My Hero Academia epilogue. Some of these character transformations were astoundingly different, like Mirio's all-new pompadour hairstyle or Bakugo's hulking muscles.

Still, one glow-up stands above the rest in my opinion, and it is not even a main character. Neito Monoma of Class 1-B changed the most dramatically, finally achieving his wish of overshadowing Class 1-A's students, including Deku himself. Deku's adult look is indeed more mature, but his new appearance does not hold a candle to the differences in Monoma's, finally allowing the Class 1-B student to beat Deku at something.

Neito’s Glow-up Features a New Outfit, Including a Stylish Watch and Matching Earrings

His Appearance Highlights His Confidence and Self-Assuredness, as Well as His Status as the Top 10 Hero

Known by the hero name, the Phantom Thief, Neito Monoma has a unique Quirk ability called "Copy," that offers him nearly limitless possible uses, since he can copy others' Quirks for ten minutes at a time. His Quirk is reflected through accessories in his new look, as he dangles a small pocketwatch on one finger, indicating the time-based nature of his ability. During his Class 1-B days, Neito's hair was much longer and more shaggy, but in his updated appearance, he has cut his hair shorter and it is more neatly styled and parted carefully down the middle, making him look more polished.

He also wears two clock-shaped earrings in either ear, tying in with the larger watch resting on his gloved hand. He also wears an elegant suit, further contributing to the fashionable aura he exudes. After this eight-year-time skip, Monoma looks more confident and refined than ever, a far cry from his insecure and eager to please personality during his high school days. The image of Monoma also contains another impressive accomplishment: he became the number ten hero in the world, a feat that proves how experienced he has become at saving people.

Monoma Used To Be One of My Least Favorite Characters, but His Complex Arc Changed My Mind

By The End of My Hero Academia, He Transformed From an Insecure and Taunting Character to a Helpful Hero

Neito Monoma using his copy ability quirk.

At U.A. High, Monoma was a pretty unlikable character and his entire attitude revolved around attempting to sur Class 1-A, which he was never quite able to accomplish. All bark and no bite, Monoma consistently taunted Deku and his classmates but rarely had the achievements to back up his cutting remarks, leaving him looking foolish quite often. Despite how confidently he acted, Neito was always insecure deep down, and this was his greatest obstacle to overcome in order to become a true hero. Because of how he faced his inner struggles, Neito became someone I found relatable and irable over time.

My Hero Academia Finally Justifies Its Most Irritating Student

One of Class 1-B's most obnoxious students has been given a key role in the heroes' counterattack, finally giving him a chance to show his hero cred.

During his first few introductions, such as during the Sports Festival and Hero Provisional License Exam, it was difficult to appreciate Monoma's character or good traits because they were masked by how obnoxiously he acted. As My Hero Academia's story proceeded though, I shifted from hating him to understanding his arc more deeply, realizing his insecurities, and respecting his efforts to control these behaviors that held him back. Monoma has always had one of the most useful, versatile, and powerful Quirks, he simply needed to learn how to wield it, drawing on his own strengths rather than comparing himself to others.

Monoma’s New Design Hints at His Mastery of His Quirk and Growth as a Character

In My Opinion, Monoma’s Arc Is One of the Most Inspiring, Despite His Annoying Personality in the Early Days

Neito Monoma

Monoma always had potential, leading Class 1-B in the Sports Festival and other important endeavors, but his childish behavior impeded his progress, as well as his challenges with other aspects of the hero course, like written exams. Monoma had to work very hard to master his Quirk too, because his entire life, he was told, in his own words, "you can't become a superhero with that Quirk." With so much opposition against him, Monoma had to put in more effort than most of his classmates, but it paid off in the end, as he rose in the ranks to the world's number 10 hero.

Neito's proud use of three watches in his final epilogue look reveals that he now takes pride in his Copy Quirk, which is truly remarkable since he was made to feel ashamed of it for so many years. He finally proved the value of his Quirk during the Final War, when he played a major role in trapping new adult character design feels so significant to me and other My Hero Academia fans because it highlights just how much he has grown since the days of him teasing Class 1-A and looking down on others.

Neito and Bakugo’s Character Arcs Followed a Similar Trajectory From Bully to Hero

Both Characters Overcame Their Own Insecurities To Become Some of My Hero Academia’s Best Heroes

Monoma Phantom Thief Erasure Quirk against Shigaraki

Deku's glow-up is a favorite of many fans, because of his new hero suit and facial scar as a reminder of the battles he faced. Although Deku's transformation is one of the best, Monoma's is even more stylish than the former Class 1-A hero. Deku became a source of motivation for the world too. Although he pursued teaching and not hero work, he is uplifting the next generation in his own way. However, Deku is a character who was always an honorable person, while Monoma had to completely revamp his attitude and mindset towards his Quirk, himself, and others to become great.

One My Hero Academia Hero is Based on a Hollywood Star No One Would Guess

My Hero Academia's characters have some varied inspiration, but one hero is actually based on a Hollywood star better known for playing a villain.

Characters like Bakugo and Monoma, who underwent a complete shift from bully to hero, will always be my favorite stories to engage in, because of how they highlight the fact that there is potential for positive change in anyone. No one is beyond hope, even previously arrogant, self-absorbed characters like these two, who happen to be some of my favorites due to the depth of their stories. With this knowledge, Monoma's new look and status as number ten hero are even more exciting, because against all odds, he became one of the greatest heroes in My Hero Academia.
