Meta's poorly-attended metaverse concerts late last year.

Even as Meta's fledgling virtual reality empire tries to achieve lift off, it has been embroiled in multiple controversies in the recent past. Earlier this year, the FTC sued Meta for monopolistic trade practices after the latter attempted to acquire rival metaverse company Unlimited and its VR fitness app, Supernatural. This wasn't the first time the FTC took action against Meta for alleged uncompetitive behavior either. Back in 2020, the agency had also sued the Mark Zuckerberg-led company for anti-competitive conduct. As if that wasn't enough, Meta's VR social media platform 'Horizon Worlds' has been facing a deluge of sexual harassment allegations from women, with many complaining that the company has failed to act against offenders.

Project Cambria Set For Debut At Meta Connect 2022?

One of the devices that could make an appearance at the event is the so-called Project Cambria headset that Meta has been working on for a long time. Talking to Joe Rogan on his podcast last month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg even confirmed that the device will be announced in October, meaning Connect 2022 would be as good a time as any to make it official.

Earlier this year, Zuckerberg also teased the device on Facebook, posting an image of himself wearing a headset that looks fairly similar to what has been rumored about Project Cambria. According to some of those rumors, the device will come with eye-tracking and facial recognition, as well as color through. It could also ship with a higher-resolution screen than the Meta Quest 2.
