Joker: Folie a Deux will premiere on October 4, 2022, and after the successful first movie of DC's most beloved and popular clown in 2019, fans are eager to see Joaquin Phoenix again next to co-star Lady Gaga in a new exciting feature.
Not only The Batman also rejoiced in high ratings and praise, proving once again how both of them are DC's most valuable players. Their enmity started years ago, but nobody could have predicted how transcendental their relationship would be in the history of comics and cinema. Many things could sum up Jokers and Batman's relationship, but memes are the best ones to do so.
DC's Most Valuable Enmity
DC has granted Joker such a complex, intriguing, and three-dimensional personality that it is safe to say he is one of the most important and well-done villains of all time. Batman, on the other hand, is also one of the most important superheroes of all time. Consequently, both have become DC's powerhouse, and are the only ones strong enough to keep DC moving; like Jack Sparrow pulls the Black Pearl.
This is especially true in DC's cinematic universe. While Batman and Joker have had successful films in the past years, the same cannot be said about other DC superheroes like Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman, who have been disappointing, to say the least.
Joker Always Pranks Batman
The Joker often honors his name by doing jokes, setting "hilarious" traps, or pranking Batman. Therefore, it is not hard to believe that in one of their serious interrogations, like the one in The Dark Knight, the Joker could have joked about the death of Bruce Wayne's parents.
After all, most quotes that perfectly sum up Joker as a character are twisted things he finds funny, and a knock-knock joke about Bruce Wayne's parent's brutal murders would have not been out of character, as the meme accurately shows.
Different Ideals
Industrial Society and its Future is an essay written by the Unabomber, and it is not hard to imagine the Joker reading Ted Kaczynski and his disturbing reflections and conclusions about modern society. Much less quoting him in front of Batman, and making him lose his patience, like always.
Ted Kaczynski's case is depicted in one of the best true crime Netflix original series, and looking closely at his profile, intentions, wickedness, story, and intelligence, he shares an uncanny resemblance to Joker, which makes this meme all more interesting.
Joker Haunts Batman
The Joker has become such an important part of Batman's life that even when he is not there, Bruce Wayne is always thinking about the evil clown and his next move. So, even though the Redditor created the meme because he kept seeing the Joker's face everywhere in Batman: Arkham, the game and image perfectly depict Batman's existence.
The Joker haunts him, he is everywhere, and Bruce struggles to finally get rid of his reign of terror and madness. The Joker has so successfully messed with his head in his multiple encounters, that he has the eternal form of an intrusive thought within Batman's head.
Evil Wins
Batman has been portrayed by many talented actors, however, his character is not as complex and challenging to play as Joker's, whose madness can only be incarnated by the best and most talented. Understandably so, not even Christian Bale's Batman has won an Oscar, while Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix's Jokers have.
Not only that but both roles have been considered the best Oscar-winning performances by a man. The combination of an extraordinary actor and an extraordinary character could only have the outcome of evil always winning at the Oscars.
Batman Almost Never Kills The Joker
Not even the most popular DCEU ships could come close to the obsession Batman and Joker have for each other, and how much, despite their enmity, they seem to ire and appreciate each other. After all, in most cases, Batman always forgives the Joker and treats him far kinder than other enemies or... young people and children, as the meme points out.
While most argue Batman doesn't harm the Joker because of Joker's mental health issues, there have been times when the Joker was actually killed or severely beaten up by DC's favorite superhero. The reasons behind Batman's decisions on who to kill or beat are very blurry and inconsistent.
Joker Always Gets Into Batman's Head
The Joker may be considered crazy, but he has proven time after time that he is quite brilliant. He is so persuasive that he has convinced people of the righteousness within his wicked ideas; he has been able to manipulate other intelligent people, succeeded in plenty of evil plans, and always manages to get into Batman's head.
In most of their conversations, Joker successfully plays with Batman's head, either by wasting his time by giving him useless and confusing information or by trying to convince Bruce that he has an evil side. There is no doubt Batman is fed up with the Joker's nonsense and could scream at him as Shrek did at Donkey.
Joker Always Sets Traps
Joker is particularly talented at planning and setting traps. Countless times, he has guided Batman into an elaborate plan where he gets ambushed at a disadvantage. Given his ion for comedy, it is not hard to imagine him delivering a "funny" joke that also references a successful trap just achieved.
Considering how Batman almost always falls for the Joker's tricks, it's completely plausible that Joker once tried to tell a "Joe" joke with Batman (to make fun of his parent's death) and succeeded, as the meme shows.
Inseparable
It is safe to say that Joker has traumatized Batman and haunts him dead or alive. Therefore, Bruce Wayne has had "enough from the clown" and only desires to finally get rid of him. Not only physically, but mentally too.
Death could have been the end of Joker in multiple Batman storylines, however, their bond is so strong that they are inseparable, and not even death may part them.
Iconic Pair
Batman and Joker have been interpreted by many actors who have shared different chemistries with their co-stars, and while most vote that Christian Bale's Batman and Heath Ledger's Joker have been the best representation of the iconic enemies, others point out how Lego's Batman and Joker have the crown.
After all, The Lego Batman Movie has been the only Batman movie where both characters stop to reflect on how special and endearing their relationship is, how inseparable they are, and how much they depend on each other for new adventures.
