18 MCU shows are confirmed to be on the horizon after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch’s MCU team-up has delivered Marvel’s sixth big-screen Phase 4 movie. But even though the film was considered to be among Phase 4’s most ambitious projects, there’s still plenty to look forward to in the next few years.
Unsurprisingly, the unprecedented success of the MCU has allowed Marvel Studios to build a stacked lineup of movies. It’s even reaching a point where it can release four films a year, which is exactly what it has planned for 2023. That’s an impressive amount of yearly content, but that’s far from the extent of what Marvel is able to offer now. Its massive slate of Disney+ shows has made it possible for Marvel to pack the year with new MCU projects, with many of its shows releasing in between its films. 2022 already saw the beginning (and conclusion) of one MCU series – and Moon Knight was only the start of Marvel’s Disney+ plans for 2022.
In 2021 alone (and despite the ongoing pandemic), Marvel managed to pump out five Disney+ shows, four of which being live-action. Over the course of a year, audiences were treated to WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Marvel’s What If…?, and Hawkeye. That could create a blueprint in of what to expect from the years to come. Here’s every MCU show releasing after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and when.
Ms. Marvel – June 8, 2022
Marvel Comics’ first Muslim superhero will make her MCU debut when Her journey in Ms. Marvel will give the character an opportunity to live out her fantasies and protect the streets of New Jersey. The show will serve as a precursor to The Marvels, which will team Kamala Khan with her idol (Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers) and Monica Rambeau. Starring Iman Vellani as the titular hero, Ms. Marvel also features Matt Lintz, Aramis Knight, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, and Yasmeen Fletcher.
She-Hulk – Mid To Late 2022
Sometime in the months that follow Kamala Khan’s MCU show with Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner and Tim Roth’s Abomination will be around for the ride as well.
Werewolf by Night –2022
Marvel has an untitled Halloween special in the works. Since it’s currently filming, it’s likely that Marvel will have it ready for a Halloween release in late October. Though this hasn’t been confirmed, casting details point to it being a Werewolf by Night story. Gael Garcia Bernal is set to play the lead character, who may or may not be Jack Russell, a drifter who suffers from the werewolf curse and the most well-known version of Werewolf by Night in Marvel Comics.
Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special – Late 2022
Marvel is poised to end 2022 with the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Directed by James Gunn, the special will pick up with Star-Lord’s team after their space adventure with Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder, but before the search for Gamora kicks off in 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Nothing is known yet about its story, but Gunn has confirmed the inclusion of “one of the greatest MCU characters of all time”. For now, this person’s identity remains under wraps.
Secret Invasion – Late 2022 or Early 2023
Samuel L. Jackson has been racking up MCU appearances for years now, but not once has he taken the lead role. That will change when Nick Fury leads the fight against Secret Invasion, which is an adaptation of the monumental comic crossover of the same name. The show will finally deliver payoff to teases from Spider-Man: No Way Home and WandaVision that laid the groundwork for the story. In addition to Jackson, the show will also bring back Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman). Since it already wrapped filming, it could be the next full-length, live-action TV series after She-Hulk.
I am Groot
Marvel will experiment with a format unique to all other MCU releases when it drops I am Groot on Disney+. Said to be a “kid-friendly” experience, the I am Groot shorts could arrive before the end of 2022. It hasn’t been confirmed if Vin Diesel will reprise his role as Groot but his involvement in the shorts is expected.
Marvel's What If...? Season 2 - Late 2022
The first MCU show to come back for a second season will be Phase 4’s movies, whereas season 1 only dealt with events from the Infinity Saga.
Echo – 2023
Marvel is already filming Echo, which means it could be among the shows on Marvel’s 2023 schedule. Starring Alaqua Cox as Marvel’s first deaf superhero, the Hawkeye spinoff could explore what came next after Echo supposedly shot Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio). If he’s not dead, the classic Spider-Man villain could be the main antagonist of her solo series.
Daredevil
Echo isn’t the only MCU project that Kingpin may be involved in. The show D’Onofrio’s take on the character originated from, Daredevil, is reportedly being rebooted as a proper MCU installment. Charlie Cox, who recently had a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, is believed to be headlining the project, which could push the reset button on Matt Murdock’s story.
Ironheart
One of the new characters debuting in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is Dominque Thorne’s Riri Williams, a teenage genius who builds her own Iron Man suit. After the movie, Riri will get the solo treatment via an Ironheart TV series. For now, there’s no word on when Ironheart will release, but a 2023 release would make sense, considering that filming is about to be underway.
