Daredevil: Born Again season 1, the next season will be raising the stakes with Charlie Cox's titular hero. One of the big details that has been confirmed for Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is that Krysten Ritter is set to reprise the role of Jessica Jones, who was one of the many Marvel-Netflix stars Cox got to work together with on The Defenders TV show.

In a new interview with Deadline, while briefly talking about Jessica Jones' return to the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, Cox addressed a major plot point from their time together on The Defenders, as he wondered when she found out that Matt Murdock was still alive. In addition to Cox's comments, Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane addressed what it was like to see the two stars working together again, as he shared the following:

Charlie Cox: What's complicated is, when did Jessica Jones find out that I'm not dead? Because at the end of Defenders, everyone assumes I’m dead, so I don’t know when… I have no recollection of when she [learns]. And I don’t even know if that happens on or off-screen. But essentially, whatever, enough time has ed that you just assume that obviously happened. There’s a mutual respect for one another. She finds him overly serious and too much of a choir boy, and he finds her to be crass and making light of too many serious situations; she’s more antihero than hero! [laughs]

Dario Scardapane: They are very fun to write. And then when I got a chance to see the first - we have these things [called] Q-takes where I get to watch what is on the monitors - and seeing the two of them in frame together for the first time, it was the best!

What Charlie Cox's Jessica Jones Comments Mean For Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

Given that it has been almost a decade since The Defenders was released on Netflix, it's key to that after the finale, Jessica never met Daredevil again on-screen, which ties into Cox's commentary. As Daredevil season 3 never had Matt reach out to his fellow Defenders, this became a storyline the franchise never resolved. Since all the Marvel-Netflix shows ended up being cancelled, this was not necessarily going to be an issue, but now that the Defenders characters are canon to the MCU, things are different, as is reflected in Cox's commentary about the matter and how it could be resolved.

However, since the MCU timeline has progressed forward as far as it has, it will likely be established in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 that Jessica found out that Matt was alive off-screen. Ultimately, it would be very strange for Jessica not to have learned at some point that Daredevil was still operating despite them living in the same city after all this time had ed. What may still happen, though, is Jessica making a snarky remark about the period when she and perhaps other Defenders were still under the assumption that Matt was still dead.

Our Take On Charlie Cox's Jessica Jones Comments

Jessica Jones in a purple light

Based on Cox's commentary and how Marvel Studios operates, it seems there is bound to be a moment or two where the MCU tackles when and how Jessica learned that the Devil of Hell's Kitchen survived the events of The Defenders season 1. Nevertheless, it is going to be a lot of fun to see Ritter's Jessica in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 while following what she has been up to over the last couple of years. With Daredevil: Born Again season 2 currently in production, time will tell when fans may be getting more details on Jessica's MCU return.
