With the first trailer being showcased over three years ago, very little official information has been revealed about the Marvel's Wolverine. Despite the lack of official updates, this hasn't stopped countless leaks from making their way out of the studio, showcasing more than most trailers would be willing to reveal. While most of the leaked concepts have a lot of promise, it makes sense why Wolverine's developers would want to hold back on revealing anything else for the time being.
Despite the radio silence, there's still plenty of hope that 2025 will finally see more of Marvel's Wolverine, whether it's in the form of a new trailer or even finally getting a rough release date. While it can be frustrating to see so many leaks for game with little in the way of official announcements, it might be even longer before seeing more of Marvel's Wolverine. Insomniac's new trio of CEO's weren't willing to add any information on the subject of the game in their most recent interview, but after hearing why, it honestly might be for the best.
Insomniac Wants To Remain "Like Logan" On Marvel's Wolverine
Giving The Developers Some Much-Needed Time To Breathe
Despite the comparisons between Insomniacs' previous Spider-Man games and its latest project, the Logan seen in Marvel's Wolverine is far from a quippy vigilante that shines in the spotlight. It seems that, rather than testing fans with ambitious goals and exciting teasers, Insomniac is taking a more relaxed approach to Wolverines' publicity, saving a big reveal for when the game is properly ready to shine.

Wolverine Game Comes Early In Marvel's Spider-Man Mod
Wolverine gets to prove to Spider-Man that he's the best at what he does, thanks to a new cosmetic mod for Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered on PC.
In an interview with Variety, when asking about more Wolverine news, Insomniac's Chad Dezern said, "we have to be like Logan today, and remain very stoic until it’s time to pop the claws down the road." With the project taking a more gritty tone while seeming like a mix between Spider-Man and the Batman Arkham series, it seems like Wolverine will be making use of the developer's best strengths without relying on them too heavily.
Staying true to the tonal shift of the new project and Logan's character, taking a more stoic approach feels like a perfect fit for the fan-favorite character. Combined with how much has already been leaked so far with several massive trailers and mechanical reveals, I'd rather wait until the gameplay concepts for Wolverine have been fully solidified before seeing more.
After Leaks, The Less We Know About Wolverine, The Better
Giving The Developers Some Much-Needed Time To Breathe
While leaks are a more common sight to see in the gaming industry these days, Marvel's Wolverine got hit much harder than most by leakers in its early stages of development. Although it's an easy claim to make with how little footage was shown, the amount of leaked gameplay and trailers massively eclipsed any official information about the Wolverine project. Aside from spoiling major mechanics that would have been much more impactful in a fully fleshed-out form, it seems the leaks may have done more harm to the project's public perception than anything else.
The amount of leaked gameplay and trailers massively eclipsed any official information about the Wolverine project.
Although there was still plenty of excitement from getting a better look at the mysterious new project, Wolverine's pre-alpha state resulted in a frenzy of posts criticizing its seemingly poor quality and janky gameplay. Given how early in development Wolverine was at the time, without even having a gameplay trailer or official statements prepared yet, much of this criticism was unjustly harsh towards both the studio and the project itself.
On top of causing some potential fans to write off the project, some of the leakers started harassment campaigns involving the developers, as reported by Insomniac Games on X, which likely did little to help Wolverine's evolving development time.
To further add fuel to the speculation fire, Insomniac has already confirmed that, despite being an entirely standalone experience, Marvel's Wolverine will continue to build upon the same in-game universe that Inomniac's Spider-Man started years prior. After seeing snippets of the leaked footage already which included Logan's combat and traversal abilities, it's not too much of a surprise that they take place in the same world, but the Wolverine project is far from a copy of Spider-Man.
Too Much Information Could Spoil The Game When It Finally Releases
Offer Plenty Of Surprises For Patient Fans
With how many features and gameplay mechanics have already been revealed, saving the best reveals closer to when the project is ready for release definitely seems like the right move from Insomniac. Holding back on showcasing too much could also be a great way to save a few surprise cameos with iconic characters further into the story, or even set up DLC in the future.

Marvel's Wolverine Game Doesn't Seem To Be What I Expected, But It Makes Perfect Sense
The Marvel's Wolverine leaks show a slightly different depiction of the character than what I was expecting from the reveal trailer.
As leaks become more commonplace than ever, they can do massive harm to a game's potential, especially when it comes in the form of a woefully underdeveloped segment or unofficial channels. From spoiling entire stories and giving away exciting mechanics, pre-release footage making its way to the public can have massive consequences for patient players and developers alike. Hopefully Insomniac games will have better luck when it comes to preventing leaks in the future, but either way, I'm incredibly excited to see how Marvel's Wolverine manages to evolve after more development time, regardless of how long it will take.
