A new Marvel's Midnight Suns release date delay was recently announced, pushing the game into 2023, but Firaxis is using the extra time to show off some of the game's colorful characters.
Marvel's Midnight Suns will bring together heroes from across the Marvel universe to thwart Lilith's wicked plans. Like the version of the team originating in the comics, the lineup will focus on various supernatural heroes like Blade, Ghost Rider, Nico Minoru and the Scarlet Witch. However, Marvel's Midnight Suns will also feature more mainstream heroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain Marvel and Wolverine. Each of these characters possesses their own combat abilities, represented in-game as collectible cards, and players will be able to form personal relationships with them in the Abbey hub. Marvel's Midnight Suns showed off Captain Marvel recently, and now the merciless mutant Wolverine has entered the spotlight.
A Wolverine gameplay showcase, posted to YouTube by Marvel's Midnight Suns, sees Weapon X face off against Lilith's demonic forces and his iconic nemesis Sabertooth. With his powerful healing factor and razor-sharp adamantium claws, Wolverine serves as a powerful tank who can chain melee attacks together to shred his enemies. The ive skill Healing Factor restores Logan's health every time the player redraws a card, while the Rapid Regeneration power lets him immediately re combat after being incapacitated. The Marvel's Midnight Suns demo sees Wolverine use these powers to go toe-to-toe with Sabertooth, who has his own suite of skills as a boss.
While Wolverine is a tanky close-range fighter, Spider-Man gameplay in Marvel's Midnight Suns portrays the friendly neighborhood hero as an agile speedster who specializes in environmental attacks. Spidey's Oppurtunist card, for example, lets him perform environmental attacks without consuming the game's Heroism resource while more easily positioning himself within the level. While the wall-crawler typically focuses on dealing minor damage to multiple foes, the Strengthened card can temporarily boost his damage to help finish off a stubborn enemy or boss.
Marvel's Midnight Suns boasts a large cast of Marvel heroes, and each one will bring their signature skills and style to the supernatural RPG. The game will emphasize Wolverine's most beloved qualities by making him a gruff brawler that can take enormous punishment without faltering. Marvel's Midnight Suns will also see Logan face off against Sabertooth, no doubt making for an intense mutant grudge match.
Marvel's Midnight Suns will release in 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
