Marvel’s Midnight Suns does a great job of presenting a variety of Marvel heroes in a way that honor their legacies, but one character trait about Wolverine is decidedly lacking. Marvel's Midnight Suns packs a lot of high-quality characterization into its narrative, giving meaningful interactions, personal details, and screen time to both the most well-known Avengers and the lesser-known of the Runaways. Despite this, the game does a disservice to its iteration of Wolverine, ignoring a pretty significant and widely acknowledged character trait.

Marvel's Midnight Suns has succeeded in many ways where previous Marvel games have fallen short. The game's complex, layered character friendship system is a big part of the reason why Midnight Suns solves Marvel's past game mistakes with realizing iconic characters that come with decades of history. Players get to make decisions that impact their Hunter character, their relationships with other Marvel superheroes, and their playable card decks. Getting personal with Marvel's Midnight Suns' version of Wolverine is just as engaging as it is with the game's other heroes, but it sidesteps a glaring omission about his character.

Marvel's Midnight Suns Makes Wolverine Too Tall

Marvel's Midnight Suns' Wolverine Interrogates Hydra Agent, brandishing his claws as intimidation.

The version of Wolverine presented in Marvel's Midnight Suns is too tall - a minute physical feature about Wolverine that betrays decades of Marvel history. Throughout the game, Wolverine appears to tower above most of the other characters featured in the scenes, which has almost never been the case throughout Marvel comics featuring the character. Wolverine may be one of the most OP characters in Marvel's Midnight Suns, but Wolverine's height seems like a rare oversight in a game that gives its characters a high level of depth and detail.

A major factor that might have contributed to this oversight could have been Hugh Jackman's tenure playing the character in the X-Men live-action movies. Jackman was initially overlooked for the role in 2000's X-Men, specifically for being too tall and too handsome. It is possible that Wolverine's height is easier to overlook today, now that audiences are familiar with both short and tall versions of Wolverine.

Wolverine's Height Doesn't Take Away From The Midnight Suns Character

While Wolverine's height over other characters in the game might not necessarily be true to the character, Wolverine is a crucial character in Marvel's Midnight Suns. His inclusion in the game, like other of the Avengers, doesn't make sense on Marvel's Midnight Suns' roster because of its mystical nature and focus on sorcery and the supernatural, but his arrival in the game's campaign brings in a well-known character at just the right time. Marvel's Midnight Suns' Wolverine might not be perfectly faithful to his legacy, but he is just as interesting and engaging as the rest of the Midnight Suns.
