Among the exciting announcements at PlayStation's February 2025 State of Play, the Pinnochio Soulslike, Lies of P, was announced to be getting a prequel DLC coming later this Summer. The DLC, titled Overture, will return players to the city of Krat, but this time, right before the events of the brutal puppet massacre.

After having experienced the fallout of events, players will finally have the opportunity to see the madness unfold as they explore Krat in its final days of grandeur, all while haunted by the images of what's to come. For those who have been longing for a return to this puppet-crazed world, Overture promises to provide an experience that will only further enrich the overall story.

Coming nearly 2 years after the Lies of P release, the DLC teaser trailer showcased in PlayStation's February 2025 State of Play didn't offer much in of details. However, while the Lies of P Overture DLC has no official release date at the moment, Neowiz has confirmed that players can expect to see it hit shops sometime this summer, which isn't surprising given the base game's September release window.

Given that there are still a few months to go before the official release, players should expect to see more of the Lies of P Overture DLC in the coming months. New announcements will likely include more details regarding a formal release date, gameplay, specifics on the new weapons, story, and even hands-on previews to provide more of an idea of what to expect from this seemingly large and plot-heavy prequel DLC.

Unlock New Weapons & Combat Styles

While exploring the new but familiar setting of Krat before the disastrous events of the puppet massacre, players will have the opportunity to discover new armaments, weapon combinations, and combat styles. Part of what gave Lies of P its stand-out quirks while closely mimicking the traditional combat and enemy styles of a Souls game was the ability to create unique and sometimes wacky custom weapons.

The trailer for Lies of P: Overture features some footage of combat that offers a sneak peek into a new array of climactic boss fights. Fighting foes like mutant animals and a hulking creature that wields a ball and chain, Pinocchio shows off several weapons, perhaps most notably a bow with glowing arrows.

One sword that appears in the trailer looks similar to Laxasia's in the base game, which could fill a new niche.

Customization features should be further enhanced in Overture, with a variety of new things to experiment with while deciding on the best ways to take on new enemies and explore the complex labyrinths of this town's secrets. Furthermore, a flurry of difficult, game-influencing, decisions should be expected, similar to those experienced in present-day Krat when deciding whether to lie during the base game.

Given the game's focus on the fairytale story of Pinocchio, this shouldn't come as much of a shock, but it will be interesting to see how decisions can affect a seemingly pre-determined series of events in the past. Choices made are rumored to have lasting consequences that ripple throughout the timeline of Krat, making decisions weigh heavily. From what's been shown so far, it seems as though Neowiz and Round8 have continued to expand upon the features that made Lies of P memorable, but more details can be expected in the coming months leading up to the DLC's release.

Explore The Tragic Past & Present Of Krat

For anyone still wishing for any sort of new Bloodborne-related content, returning to the familiar dark, Soulslike world of Lies of P doesn't sound half-bad. This time, however, players can expect to see a different side of the city of Krat as they head back in time to the remaining days before the puppet massacre, when the city had a bit more light about it. Pinnochio will follow a legendary Stalker, or guide, through events in both past and present-day Krat.

While encountering new and familiar faces, Pinnochio will explore never-before-seen locations draped in plenty of fallen snow as he works to unfold the truth about what happened in this story of revenge and the days leading up to the city's greatest tragedy. Round8 has shared that the end of Lies of P was only the beginning of the story, so it's safe to say that the Lies of P Overture DLC will only further expand upon the world players have come to know and love.
