A new gameplay overview of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga's release date was recently confirmed as April 5, 2022.
Each LEGO video game strives to build upon what came before it, and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will serve as a dramatic evolution for the series. While 2007's The Complete Saga adapted the first six Star Wars films, The Skywalker Saga will go even further by recreating all nine major franchise installments. Each of these films will be retold using the LEGO series' signature humor, and characters from throughout the franchise will result in a roster of around 300 playable characters. The newest LEGO Star Wars game's setting is shaping up to be absolutely massive, with The Skywalker Saga's Galaxy Map of planets allowing players to explore 24 distinct locations across a galaxy far, far away.

The trailer presents in-depth combat mechanics, with blasters aimed in third-person and melee fights involving a variety of different combos. New plants are progressively unlocked and can be explored for loot, which is used to upgrade abilities and unlock new content. Levels boast multiple possible routes, and side missions add even more varied gameplay like bar brawls and lore quizzes.
Based on the gameplay trailer, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will feature a plethora of content for fans to discover. However, day-one able content will add even more characters from throughout the massive sci-fi series. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga DLC will include figures from beloved series like The Mandalorian and spin-off films like Rogue One and Solo: A Star Wars Story. While official details about these DLC packs have not been officially revealed, retail listings explain that each can be earned by pre-ordering the game or purchased when it launches on April 5.
