The special, set to release on Disney+ on September 13th, 2024, will also bring back Star Wars legends. LEGO Dark Falcon and TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-Up Sets Revealed [EXCLUSIVE]

An exclusive and official first look at two unique LEGO sets from LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy featuring Darth Jar Jar, Jedi Vader & Darth Rey.

Arguably the most interesting story point raised, with LucasFilm gearing up to release Daisy Ridley's Rey movie and the continuation of the Star Wars timeline, is the idea of Rey falling to the Dark Side. When asked about Darth Rey's role in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, the execs offered a tease of what's to come:

In Rebuild the Galaxy, Darth Rey is a Sith through and through. Throughout the Star Wars Saga, we’ve seen people try to tempt Rey to the Dark Side, and we explore what happens when Rey finally does give into her worst impulses.

The first announcement of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy came with the reveal of long-running Star Wars meme Darth Jar Jar, but Rey's dark side path is even more significant. The sequel trilogy further explored the capacity of all people to fall - a well-established storyline in Star Wars lore - and Rebuild The Galaxy will show some of that tempting what if scenario. There's no word yet on who will be voicing Darth Rey in the Star Wars series.

Exclusive Interview With LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild The Galaxy Exec Producers In Full

LEGO Star Wars Rebuild the Galaxy Executive Producers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit

Can you share some details about Sig and Dev Greebling?

For years we've heard about scruffy-looking nerf herders, but we were excited to actually show nerf herders for the first time on screen!

Sig and Dev live on the peaceful and sleepy planet of Fenessa, herding rowdy nerfs, but Sig will soon discover a secret that will change the face of the galaxy...

What can you tell us about Darth Dev, and what set him on this path? How does he know Darth Jar Jar?

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy is all about all the different ways the Star Wars galaxy can fall apart and come back together. Darth Dev is a Sith Lord who's determined to build the galaxy his way, and his deep connection to Sig is something we'll explore over the course of the show.

As to Darth Dev's relationship with Darth Jar Jar, like all Sith relationships, it's one built on treachery and duplicity (just the way they like it)...

We know Han Solo owns the Millennium Falcon...but who drives the Dark Falcon?

In our rebuilt galaxy, the Dark Falcon is the main mode of transportation for the Sith. They may behave badly, but they look good doing it.

We almost didn’t recognize C-3PO with the red eyes – what’s going on here?

It was a shock for us at first, too. Eventually, we realized it was in fact C-3PO, but he is a master of disguise. Perfect for a bounty hunter…

Luke didn't get the 'Darth' treatment! What was the inspiration behind Beach Luke?

We thought there it would be interesting to see what Luke's life might have been like had he never learned about his legacy, and in the process, we realized there was a version of Luke who was just a cool guy living his best life on Tatooine. This really made us laugh, but it also provoked a deeper question: are heroes destined to be heroes, even if they miss the call to adventure the first time around?

What is it like to see your creations become LEGO sets?

We always hoped someday we'd write something that would get turned into LEGO sets, but we never could have imagined we would be so integrally involved in deg the sets and seeing our original characters come to life. This is a dream come true for us as fans of LEGO and fans of Star Wars, and we are already setting aside time to build the sets as soon as we get our hands on them.

In LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, the entire Star Wars Galaxy gets completely mixed up when an ordinary nerf-herder, Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo), unearths a powerful artifact from a hidden Jedi temple. He finds himself thrust into adventure in a new, wondrously wild and twisted version of the galaxy where good guys are bad, bad guys are good, and the fate of all depends on Sig becoming the hero who can put all the pieces back together.

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy is directed by Chris Buckley, and exec produced by Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit, James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, Jill Wilfert, Jason Cosler and Keith Malone are the executive producers. Daniel Cavey & Dan Langlois are producing.

All four parts of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy will debut September 13, exclusively on Disney+.
