- LEGO has confirmed a Pokémon collaboration following the leak.
LEGO has seemingly leaked it will have the rights to make Pokémon LEGO sets starting in 2026. These days, it seems that LEGO can get the rights to make anything, from the Jaws boat to the Cullen House from the Twilight franchise. However, there's one popular franchise that has remained elusive for years: Pokémon. Since 2017, Mega Blocks, a subsidiary of Mattel, has had the rights to produce a robust line of Pokémon figures and playsets. However, a now-deleted post from LEGO Mexico indicates that's about to change.
UPDATE: 2025/03/18 14:17 EST BY LARA JACKSON
LEGO has confirmed a Pokémon collaboration following the leak.
Following the initial leak, LEGO has updated its website to officially confirm an collaboration with Pokémon. No sets or products have yet been revealed, though the website does show a Pikachu tail made of LEGO bricks, suggesting the mascot may be the focus of the first product. The title of this article has been updated to reflect LEGO's official announcement. Original story as follows.
According to a now-deleted post, later shared to Reddit, LEGO will have the rights to make Pokémon-themed sets beginning in 2026. A video posted to LEGO Mexico's Facebook page and then quickly deleted showed yellow and pale brown LEGO blocks coming together to create the iconic lightning-shaped Pikachu tail. No further details were provided about the collaboration, although we can likely expect a robust lineup of products given the size of LEGO's Super Mario set. The post's video, while deleted, was shared to Reddit's /r/LegoLeaks community.

Will Pokémon & LEGO's Collaboration Be The Biggest In Pokémon History?
Expect A Line-Up On Par With LEGO's Collaboration With Super Mario
In recent years, Pokémon has teamed up with iconic brands to help grow the franchise. A LEGO collaboration will be one of its biggest yet, especially as it guarantees shelf space in almost every toy store that carries LEGO in the US and abroad. Mega Blocks had a massive line of Pokémon-related merchandise, and it seems likely that LEGO would have to match that line's size in of both quality and size.

Don't Be Alarmed, But It Looks Like One Piece Is Getting Its Very Own LEGO Sets Collection
One Piece's live-action adaptation is allegedly working with LEGO to release a collection of 5 sets inspired by Luffy's adventure.
While fans shouldn't expect LEGO to instantly produce products on par with its or Marvel lines, at least not at the outset, we can likely look to how LEGO treated the Super Mario line as a model for how the Pokémon line will grow. That line was launched in 2020 and had over 15 different products released in its first year, ranging in size from small sets to full 1,000+ piece playsets.
Our Take: Finally, We Get Our Pokémon LEGO
This Is A Dream Come True For LEGO And Pokémon Fans
As a LEGO fanatic and a lifelong Pokémon fan, this is the one collaboration I've been desperately waiting to see. The Mega Construx lines had some cool sets, but Mega Blocks often have fiddly parts and customized blocks that just aren't elegant in the same way the specialized LEGO blocks are. I personally will be on the hook for all of the Pokémon LEGO sets and I'm sure there are millions of fans who feel the same way.
