The Andy Muschietti's The Brave and the Bold, which will follow the DCU's Batman and his son, Damian Wayne. Many actors have played Batman in live-action before, and three of them appeared on the big screen almost within the same year: Robert Pattinson, Ben Affleck, and Michael Keaton. Naturally, expectations are high for the DCU's Batman.

The Brave and the Bold might still be a few years away, but fan castings have already begun to pop up on social media. On X, DC fan @GothamChief points to Lee Pace's training for the Apple TV+ show Foundation as evidence of his potential for the DCU's Batman. Pace has previously played Ronan the Acc in the MCU. Other X s agree, explaining how Lee Pace's physicality and previous roles make him a good choice for the DC Universe's Batman actor. Particularly, Pace's performance as Joe MacMillan in the AMC drama Halt and Catch Fire shares similarities with Bruce Wayne. His somber, suave persona complements his intimidating stature and deep voice, and his sense of style adds the final touch to Lee Pace's Batman-like Joe MacMillan. See the reactions below:

Who Lee Pace Should Play In The DCU

Lee Pace as Bruce Wayne in Batman DCU Fancast

Lee Pace's work on Foundation and Halt and Catch Fire proves his potential for the DCU's Batman. Pace has previous experience in franchise movies with his portrayal of Thranduil, king of the Mirkwood Elves, in The Hobbit trilogy, as well as Ronan the Acc in the MCU's Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. In the DCU, Lee Pace could tackle a bigger role that requires less makeup and more acting chops in the form of Bruce Wayne. But while Lee Pace could be the right age for the DCU's Batman, he's still 14 years older than David Corenswet. James Gunn's DCU might be aiming for a younger Batman actor.

Instead, Lee Pace could play a different hero; for instance, The Authority's DCU like Apollo, Midnighter, and Jack Hawksmoor, or Justice Society such as Wildcat, Hourman, Doctor Mid-Nite, or any of the Doctor Fates who have taken up the helmet throughout the years. These characters can be just as physical as Batman in the DCU, but they could also allow Pace to explore other creative possibilities beyond his previous roles. An encounter between the DCU's Batman and Lee Pace's Apollo or Lee Pace's Doctor Fate, for example, would still make the most out of Pace's Batman-like qualities.

Almost 20 releases into the Batman franchise, 2023's new Dark Knight movie breaks a trend that has come to define Gotham's Caped Crusader.

Alternatively, Lee Pace could play a villain in the DCU. Some options include Harvey Dent a.k.a. Two-Face, Sinestro, Deathstroke, and Mr. Freeze — all of whom share the same stern, cerebral qualities that make Batman such a popular DC character. If Lee Pace s the DC Universe in a role different to The Brave and the Bold's Batman, though, the closest character to the Dark Knight would be Owlman, member of the Crime Syndicate and evil counterpart to Batman. Although DC's Crime Syndicate has its roots in a different universe, the DCU could simplify their origin and introduce a villainous version of Batman with Lee Pace in the role.
