Knuckles season 2 has not been announced, but the continuation of the series has not been fully ruled out either. Knuckles is also receiving good reviews so far, with a 75% approval rating among both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. With the smashing success that Knuckles has been, an announcement of Knuckles season 2 would not be at all surprising at this stage.
Another point towards Knuckles season 2 is the success of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies in theaters. Sonic the Hedgehog brought in $319.7 million at the worldwide box office, making money on its $85 million budget. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 saw even higher returns at the box office, bringing in $405.4 million globally. Knuckles was a favorite character in the second film, so the success of that film and the fans’ reaction is likely what pushed the studio to make the Knuckles spinoff in the first place.
The positive box office numbers for the first two Sonic movies has also led to the production of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which releases later this year.
