Jurassic Park franchise has been enormously successful, but one issue with the movies is their potential for being predictable. Most of the rebooted Jurassic World movies have given unrealistic plot armor to their main characters, and while Chris Pratt's Owen Grady is a fan favorite, the fact that he seemed untouchable lowered the stakes for the movie.
As the Jurassic Park movies are rarely gory, the sense of danger is what keeps the tension going, and the stakes in Gareth Edwards' new Jurassic World Rebirth need to be high. The Jurassic World trilogy appeared to sacrifice the original movie's scares for big action spectacles, which ended in Jurassic World Rebirth's story must not just be scary, but unpredictable. There is one way that Edwards could do this, and it's a storyline that all the other Jurassic movies have been afraid to do.
Jurassic World Rebirth Should Kill Off Most Of The Main Characters (If Not All Of Them)
The Jurassic World Franchise Has Prioritized Visuals Over Character Development For Too Long
The Jurassic Park movies have killed off key characters, with some of the most memorable deaths in the Jurassic Park franchise being Dennis Nedry's Dilophosaurus encounter and Donald Gennaro being eaten from the toilet. However, none of the Jurassic movies have killed off all of their main characters yet, and this would introduce some shock and unpredictability back into the franchise. While it is unlikely that a franchise with a young fanbase will kill all of its main characters, a major character death could be powerful, especially if the franchise stops prioritizing big visuals over character development.
While John Hammond survives in Jurassic Park, he is a major character who dies in Michael Crichton's original novel.
However, one of the best things about Jurassic Park is the way that it developed its characters alongside the spectacular dinosaurs. Characters like Ian Malcolm have become fan favorites, while Ellie Sattler is often considered a feminist icon, and even some of Jurassic Park's ing characters have main character energy. The characters in the newer movies have their big moments, like Owen's Velociraptor training scene, but they are not as well-developed as in the original trilogy. It is time that the Jurassic World franchise addressed this, giving audiences characters to care about again.
Jurassic World Rebirth's Director Has Experience With Killing Off A Lot Of Characters At Once
Gareth Edwards Says That Jurassic World Rebirth Is Influenced By A Steven Spielberg Horror
Gareth Edwards' movies have often featured violence on a major scale, with Godzilla focusing on large-scale destruction that kills enormous populations and cities at once. Godzilla proves that Edwards is not afraid to show significant death tolls in his movies, while Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ends with the deaths of almost all of its main characters. Edwards is ann exciting choice of director for Jurassic World Rebirth, as his movies have mostly been given positive reviews despite (and sometimes because of) their high death tolls.

The Most Horrifying Death In The Jurassic Park Franchise Still Hasn't Been Topped And Might Never Be
In Jurassic World, Zara got the worst and most terrifying death in the entire Jurassic Park franchise and the movies haven't come close to topping it.
Gareth Edwards appears serious about bringing some of the horror back to the Jurassic World franchise, telling Entertainment Weekly, "to me, it's a giant love letter to Steven Spielberg and his earlier films. There are moments in this movie that remind me very much of Jaws." This is great news for Jurassic World Rebirth as Jaws is famous for its jump scares, character development, and the death of a main character. With moments in the movie being influenced by both Jaws and the original Jurassic Park, Jurassic World Rebirth could be the best entry in the franchise since the original.
