Warning: contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen
Throughout the manga run of Fight Club. As the Culling Games begin, Megumi and Yuji are sent to find a mysterious Jujutsu sorcerer turned fight club bookie, who's created an even more brutal fight club than the cult classic film.
Recent chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen have introduced a new Jujutsu sorcerer, Kinji Haraki, who not only strikes a shocking resemblance to Tyler Durden from David Fincher’s Fight Club but who's also the leader of an underground fight club. His club even shares the same first rule as the movie's, no one talks about the fight club. However, Jujutsu Kaisen’s version of Fight Club goes far beyond the involvement of unfulfilled white-collar men.
Haraki's fight club is made to challenge a Jujutsu sorcerers' physical strength through combat. Unlike the film's amateur setup, many Jujutsu sorcerers are trained to physically withstand a fight. Now, while there are many who use Cursed Techniques these are prohibited in Haraki's fight club.
In chapter 153, Yuji was chosen by Haraki to enter the matches who, unlike Megumi, is quite adept at hand-to-hand combat. He then learns of the fight club's 3 rules, no one talks about the fight club, no running away, and no Cursed Techniques. There are also two types of matches within the fight club: unscripted and scripted. Yuji's fight against Panda was an unscripted match which meant the brutality of the fight was unrestrained. This transfers into the actual match with Yuji and Panda, who are friends, did not pull any punches. Even with the fight resulting as a ruse created by the two friends, Yuji was still able to give Panda a powerful punch for the win.
Still unsure of the intricacies of Haraki's Cursed Technique, his intentions for the fight club are clear. As revealed in chapter 155, he plans on expanding the fight club by having it recognized publicly by higher-up Jujutsu sorcerers. Panda later how conservative Jujutu sorcerers favor more conventional Cursed Techniques in regards to more intricate uses. This also ties deeply into the reason for Haraki's expulsion from Jujutsu High, given how he disagreed with the higher up's beliefs. Even with Haraki's Cursed Technique still a mystery some might assume it could possibly be linked to the "fever" he seeks to create through gambling. Since the fight club also serves as a gambling ground for non-sorcerers this only adds more to the mysteries of his Cursed Technique and the strength of the fight club. From Jujutsu sorcerers, gambling, and Haraki's Cursed Technique Jujutsu Kaisen's fight club has definitely proven to be more brutal than its Fight Club movie inspiration.
