The big surprise of the You season 4, part 2 trailer is Victoria Pedretti returning as Love Quinn. Viewers got to know Love first in You season 2, where she quickly became the latest obsession of Joe's, and she reciprocated the intense feelings and his darker tendencies. Joe and Love's relationship grew in You season 3 as they had a child and started a new life together in Madre Linda. But, that is also where the trouble started for the couple as Joe fell for Marienne and Love began killing more people. It all resulted in Love's apparent death in You season 3's ending.
Now that Victoria Pedretti's Love was seen in the You season 4, part 2 trailer, it is confirmed that the fan-favorite character and actress is back for the remaining episodes. Since there is only a brief look of Love in You season 4, part 2, there is not much context provided for how she factors into the remaining story. The setting is quite clearly the usual glass box where Joe's victims are kept, but also more specifically what the box looked like when Joe was a kid.
Love Has Rhys' Book In You Season 4 Part 2’s Trailer
The You season 4, part 2 trailer delivers an intriguing tease about Love's fate in this scene, though, as she is shown holding Rhys' book "A Good Man in a Cruel World." The camera angle and Love's hand cover up most of the book's appearance, but the blue binding and a title that begins with "A G..." is quite revealing. The inclusion comes after part 1 made sure to repeatedly show Rhys' book and get viewers familiar with what it looks like.
There is a significant importance of Rhys' book being with Love in You season 4, part 2. Since the book was released shortly before Rhys became the Eat the Rich killer, this confirms that Love's role in You season 4, part 2 is not through flashbacks. It would be impossible for her to have a copy of "A Good Man in a Cruel World" in her possession when she and Joe were together. That leaves only two potential explanations for how Victoria Pedretti returns in You season 4, part 2: Love is alive or part a figment of Joe's imagination.
Is Love Alive In You Season 4 Part 2 Or Part Of Joe’s Imagination?
Despite what is included in the trailer, it seems unlikely that Love is alive in You season 4, part 2. Having a copy of Rhys' book and putting her in the glass box means that Joe would have to have a role in Love not being dead after You season 3. She could not survive in the box for all the time that Joe has been in Europe. Instead, this appears to be another example of Joe's past loves coming back to haunt him. You season 2 had Elizabeth Lail return as Guinevere Beck as part of Joe's imagination, so the same device could be used to explain how Love Quinn returns in You season 4.
If You continues this trend, Victoria Pedretti's appearance could be important for a few reasons. This would put some finality to debates about if Love is alive after season 3. It might also be a sign that Joe returns to his killer ways in You season 4, part 2. Guinevere only appeared to Joe after he killed someone again, so Love could do the same if Joe's pursuits of Rhys take a darker turn. Joe's subconscious manifesting her in this capacity might even be a chance for him to to keep Kate far away from him so she does not end up like Love as You season 4, part 2 unfolds.
