There are plenty of superheroes who see each other as rivals, but Thor are probably the most brutal. Despite founding the Avengers together, Thor and Hulk are rarely civil, finding any opportunity to test their strength against each other. However, it's rare that they're actually going for the kill. Now, we know that if it did come to that, each hero has a plan to permanently end the other.
In 2024, Marvel fans found out that Thor has a secret plan to kill Hulk if push comes to shove. Now, we know that Hulk is capable of the exact same feat, with a plan to slaughter the God of Thunder. The reveal shows how sincere their grudge is, with each genuinely willing to kill the other.
Fans have debated who is stronger for years, with Hulk having more raw muscle and Thor making up the difference with his godly weather powers and uru hammer. However, in a straight brawl, Marvel just pretty much settled who'd win. The answer comes in The Ultimates #12 by Deniz Camp, Juan Frigeri, Federico Blee and Travis Lanham.

12 Strongest Hulk Villains Who Still Haven't Appeared in the MCU (But Should)
Some of Hulk's best villains still haven't appeared in the MCU - here are 12 powerhouses who still need to go up against Bruce Banner.
Hulk Unleashes a Brutal Stomping on Thor
The God of Thunder Wasn't Ready for This Fight
In Ultimates #6, the Ultimate Universe's Avengers went up against Hulk. The Jade Giant surprised the heroes with his personal guard, the Immortal Weapons - expert martial artists enhanced with gamma powers. The heroes were easily defeated, with Doctor Doom teleporting them free at the last possible moment... or so they thought. In Ultimates #12, Doom its that he actually used time travel to save the team. In the original version of the timeline, Hulk slaughtered the entire team, stamping Thor to death along with the Immortal Weapons.
While the Hulk of the Ultimate Universe has full use of Bruce Banner's intellect, it was still a genius plan. The Ultimates were tricked into a confrontation with not one Hulk but seven, with the Legendary Hulk having kept his warriors a closely guarded secret. The gamma villains tore the Ultimates to shreds, snapping necks and caving in chests. Then, with enough Hulks to do the job, they turned on Thor and delivered a brutal beating.
As an ancient warrior, Thor has a strong sense of honor and individual responsibility. He's used to fighting ultra-powerful enemies one-on-one, and would never suspect that someone as strong as Hulk would spring a trap that's all about numbers. The plan worked and Thor was killed outright, only alive today because Doom did the impossible to bring him back. Fans are used to anti-superhero tactics being smart, but Hulk outnumbering Thor with no chance to get up or fight back is pure brutality. Of course, Thor's tactic for killing Hulk is cruel in its own way...

12 Strongest Hulk Villains Created by Stan Lee, Ranked by Power Level
Some of the Hulk's most powerful villains have been around from the very beginning, all thanks to his co-creator Stan 'The Man' Lee.
Thor's Plan to Kill Hulk Is Just as Merciless
The God of Thunder Has One Weapon Hulk Doesn't
Fans saw Thor kill the Hulk in 2024's Avengers: Twilight #6, from Chip Zdarsky and Daniel Acuña. In the story, the Red Skull had taken control of Hulk, using him as a weapon of mass destruction in a world where the Avengers had been discredited and ultimately disbanded. Captain America brought various heroes together to strike back, asking Thor to take on the Hulk while the rest of the team dealt with the Red Skull and Iron Man's son James.
After realizing he couldn't save Hulk - and being begged to kill him by Bruce Banner - Thor tackled Hulk into the sea and placed Mjolnir on his chest, trapping him under the water. Since Hulk wasn't worthy of Mjolnir, he had no way to move it. While Hulk can hold his breath for a long time, he does need air, and the Jade Giant quickly drowned thanks to the surprise attack. Thankfully for fans, Thor subsequently permitted Bruce Banner into Valhalla, giving him one last chance to come to with his actions in the afterlife.
While it's not as visceral as Hulk's horrific stomping, Thor drowning Hulk is horrifying in its own way, and shows how far Thor and Hulk have to push things to actually end each other. Hopefully, things won't go this far in Marvel's main reality, but if they ever do, fans already know how Hulk and Thor can kill the other, giving their feud a permanent end.
