In Grounded, there are places like the Clover Cave that hide important secrets for players to find. This location can be challenging to find, as it changed locations at least once, and getting inside requires dismissing real-life physics. However, seeing it as the Coup De Grass mutation hides inside is important. Mutations are perks that will make the game a little easier and increase the player's chances of survival, making it a priority to get these mutations as quickly as possible.

Mutations in Grounded are ways to buff your character and allow you to flourish as a tiny person in a big world. At the size of an insect, you need every possible helping hand you can get. Coup De Grass is one of these mutations, which can increase your chances of landing critical hits, and you can only find it by entering the Clover Cave.

Where To Find The Clover Cave Location in Grounded

Swimming With Fire

Map location for the Clover Cave in Grounded after patch 0.2.0

Players may have already found Clover Cave once prior to Patch 0.2.0 in the east lake. However, since the Patch, the cave has changed locations. Players will still find it in the east lake, but now it is south of the spider den and north of the Yoked Girth Head. Players can see the exact location circled on the map above.

Once players arrive at the shore of the lake, they will see a few clovers. Near the lake, they'll find the entrance to a hole in the ground. They will need to jump into the hole full of water and swim through a narrow Gauntlet. This tunnel is rather long and uses almost all of a player's oxygen. To survive, they will need to ensure they get a large enough breath before going underwater and starting to swim.

Bring a torch with you when you start swimming and have it equipped. Despite being underwater, the torch will remain lit and help you see where to go so you do not waste oxygen.

At the end of the tunnel, players will find an air pocket with a bit of grass growing and a large, four-leaf clover. Getting close to the clover will unlock the Coup De Grass mutation, which players can activate in the status menu. Players can have anywhere from 2 to 5 mutations active at a time, so you will have to decide which ones to have equipped at a time. Once found, the location will as a trademark for players.

How To Use The Coup De Grass Mutation

How It Works & Leveling It Up

The Coup De Grass mutation increases your chance of getting critical hits when you fight your enemies in Grounded. This is a helpful mutation at every level, allowing you to deal more damage over time. At that point, you can start thinking about finding the second level and getting an even better buff when this mutation is equipped. You can head in the direction soon after if you want this mutation to be better right away.

JJFlyGaming on YouTube shows you where to go to get to the second level. You must drop the shovel, avoid some potentially aggressive bugs on the way, and ascend the picnic table. JJFlyGaming suggests keeping a crossbow on hand, as two bees will attack you on the way. You will also need a tier 2 hammer to hit the button that allows you to climb the cooler to get to the picnic table's top.

This is where you will enter the Minotaur Maze's End puzzle, which you can mostly avoid by jumping on top of the walls. To get the mutation, head toward the maze's center, where you can find a d20. You will want to hit it until the 20 is facing the sky, and you can then get the 25% crit chance offered by the Coup De Grass Mutation in Grounded.
