Just last September, footage of the long-awaited next entry for the Grand Theft Auto V.
What took most s' attention however was the realistic and sprawling open world the series is known for. As it was Grand Theft Auto V that had managed to take advantage of its environment to create hundreds of opportunities for trophies for players to earn. Some of which of course considerably more difficult than the others.
Above The Law
No matter what players do in Grand Theft Auto V all of their actions are sure to be rewarded with considerable amounts of cash to flaunt or experience used to unlock new features and items. Such a prospect makes achieving the "Above The Law" trophy a matter of time, considering the only requirement for this challenge is for the player to reach level 100 in GTA Online.
Just because players can earn this trophy simply by playing the game for an extended period does not mean this trophy is easy to achieve. In fact, without taking advantage of experience boosting events or features, reaching level 100 merely off the game's jobs and missions starting from level 0 can take tens if not hundreds of hours.
Career Criminal
The "Career Criminal" trophy can simply be obtained by playing through Grand Theft Auto V's story mode through completion. Generally, so long as the player isn't too distracted this can take anywhere between 30 and 35 hours on average. However, things don't end there either.
Along with a 100% completion of the main story content, players are also required to have completed a long list of other tasks. Some of these include about 2 dozen Franklin Stranger missions, 14 Random Events,42 Pastimes, and 16 miscellaneous missions.
A Mystery, Solved
To obtain the "A Mystery, Solved" trophy, players must do what most Redditors find annoying about video games, and that is running around collecting things for a single mission. For this mission, players must collect 50 scraps of a letter scattered all over the map in various locations.
Obtaining some of these scraps can be a hassle, as to complete the whole mission for the trophy players must be willing to travel by foot, sea, and air just to reach some of the required locations. Without a guide finding each scrap would test a player's patience and eye as they seek to collect every single one either for the trophy or to uncover the letter they all make together.
Live A Little
Obtaining the "Live a Little" trophy will require a massive amount of sacrifice from the player's end. Only by spending 8 million dollars on vehicles exclusively a part of the Heists update can this trophy be obtained.
Working dozens of hours on high-risk missions just to spend well-earned cash on vehicles a player might not necessarily want is what primarily holds most players back from completing this mission. 8 million is a lot of money in this game that could otherwise be used on weapons, businesses, or desired vehicles. Locking the trophy to a specific update is often the deal breaker.
Show Off
While Grand Theft Auto V may not necessarily be a contender for one of the best racing games of the last 10 years thanks to its genre, it undeniably allows a rare availability of freedom and customizability to players that other games don't have. And as such it's only natural the game would seek to prove its superiority with a challenge.
The "Show Off" trophy can only be obtained by completing all 50 Stunt Jumps littered throughout the map. Which arguably is a lot more difficult than it sounds. For a Stunt Jump to be considered completed a player must launch off of it at the exact correct angle and speed, as well as stick the landing. Those three conditions alone mean there's no doubt several attempts for each of the 50 jumps will be required to complete the challenge. Certain vehicles may even be required to complete some jumps.
Close Shave
The various jumps players in Grand Theft Auto V can take with their vehicles already present a large amount of danger with their great heights and dangerous locations. But, almost as if to say it could do better, the "Close Shave" trophy requires players to take narrow es between various objects and bridges in an aircraft at high speeds.
If it wasn't just a challenge "Close Shave" would have no doubt earned its place as one of the hardest missions in Grand Theft Auto V. Along with having to complete 50 of such dangerous stunts, it should be taken into that failing even one of them could result in crashing and blowing up. This only makes things even more frustrating and time-consuming as players must then scramble to find another aerial vehicle just to either retry or continue.
Numero Uno
The conditions for obtaining the "Numero Uno" trophy remain the same, but its difficulty can widely vary from player to player. To obtain this trophy players must earn first place in every single online competitive game type at least once.
Why the difficulty varies from extremely easy to probably impossible is quite simple, and it all relies on whether the player has willing friends to help them obtain this trophy. Simply put, lobbying up with several friends in each of these game modes and having them allow the player to win is an easy way to gain this trophy. Otherwise, the only alternative would be possibly suffering dozens upon dozens of losses against strangers until winning at least 15 times. Which depending on a player's skills, can either take only hours or even days.
Solid Gold, Baby!
Just this challenge alone can turn Grand Theft Auto V from a ~30-hour experience into one of the longest single-player games ever. To receive the "Solid Gold, Baby!" trophy players must receive at least a collective 70 gold medals from either the main story missions or Stranger and Freaks missions.
That should be a cause for concern for several reasons. Firstly, to earn a single gold medal players must complete each of the hidden missions in each mission in a single run. That means if every condition is not met players must restart the missions from the beginning. Secondly, the conditions for each mission only get more difficult as the game goes on to accommodate the player's growth. Either way, earning this trophy means completing at least 70 missions flawlessly.
Elitist
In each of the 3 Doomsday Heist acts, players are given an additional list of 3 missions that they can complete for bonuses. However, if each of the additional missions in each act is completed, players will be rewarded with the "Elitist" trophy.
These additional missions only impact the difficulty of what was already an endgame heist designed for high-level players. Some challenges range from having no deaths during the mission, or not having to restart the mission at all. Unless a player has friends to coordinate with, obtaining this trophy is practically impossible with muted strangers.
Masterminds
The "Masterminds" trophy is truly the end game for all players. To obtain it players are required to complete all acts of the Doomsday Heist, in order, on the hardest difficulty, without losing a single life. With the right team, this condition may not seem so awful, but at the same time unless all players are knowledgeable about each mission failures are a given.
An insane amount of coordination only achievable by working with friends will be required for this trophy. As well as a dedicated amount of time that may far exceed the usual 4-6 hours it takes most players to complete each act of the heist
