WARNING: SPOILERS for Gossip Girl's series premiere.
Gossip Girl is officially back after being off the air for almost a decade as the story focuses on the next generation of elite Upper East Side teenagers. During The CW's early years, Gossip Girl became one of the network's flagship shows and perhaps one of the biggest teen dramas. The story was all about a mystery blogger who was watching the lives of high-classed adolescents and exposing their secrets to the world.
Gossip Girl ended in 2012, but in the current age of reboots and revivals, it only took nearly a decade for Warner Bros. to bring it back. While HBO Max's Gossip Girl doesn't focus on Serena van der Woodsen and other classic characters, the show is a sequel to the original series. It takes place almost ten years after the events of the first Gossip Girl show ended, focusing on new elite Constance students.
Even though Dan Humphrey may not be Gossip Girl anymore, that is not stopping a new person from taking over the mantle (or, in this case, handle) as the anonymous blogger is also reborn. Here's a guide to the all-new Gossip Girl cast and characters.
Jordan Alexander as Julien Calloway
If Gossip Girl has a new "IT-girl," it's Julien Calloway, played by Jordan Alexander. Julien is a highly profiled influencer and model that becomes one of Gossip Girl's big targets. Outside of the HBO Max drama, one of Alexander's biggest acting gigs was on Sacred Lies where she played Elsie.
Whitney Peak As Zoya Lott
Constance's newest student is Zoya Lott, played by Whitney Peak, who is revealed in the pilot to be Julien's half-sister. As they had connected online, Zoya moves to New York to get to know her sister. Like Julien, Zoya gets on Gossip Girl's radar very quickly. Gossip Girl is the latest addition to Peak's filmography, including Home Before Dark.
Tavi Gevinson As Kate Keller
While Kristen Bell may be narrating as Neo Yokio.
Eli Brown As Otto "Obie" Bergmann IV
Despite coming from wealth like his friends, Otto "Obie" Bergmann IV, played by Eli Brown, is the show's most grounded character. While Obie starts as Julien's boyfriend, he quickly grows interested in her half-sister Zoya when she enters the picture. Gossip Girl isn't Brown's first big teen drama as he portrayed Dylan Walker in the Wrath of Man and Run Hide Fight.
Thomas Doherty As Max Wolfe
Gossip Girl has a new but different Chuck Bass, and that is Max Wolfe, played by Thomas Doherty. Despite having a few similarities to Chuck, Max is a little more laid back while still enjoying parties, scheming, and hooking up with both men and women. Doherty's fame came from portraying Harry Hook in Disney's High Fidelity.
Emily Alyn Lind As Audrey Hope
Out of everyone in the group, Audrey Hope, played by Emily Alyn Lind, is Julien's closest friend. Audrey is the overachiever in the gang as she is juggling a lot in her life. Like her Code Black, All My Children, and Eastwick.
Evan Mock As Aki Menzies
One of the quieter of the friend group is Audrey's boyfriend, Aki Menzies, played by Evan Mock. While Aki has been in a long-term relationship with Audrey, Gossip Girl hints that he may or may not be exploring his sexuality. The HBO Max drama became Mock's first acting role ever.
Zión Moreno As Luna La
While Julien has a lot of the spotlight, she has a strong team helping her public image. One of them is her friend and stylist, Luna La, played by Zión Moreno. Despite being loyal to Julien, Luna is thrown off when she insists on making Zoya part of their group instantly. Gossip Girl marks as Moreno's second big acting gig after she starred in eight episodes of the Netflix series, Control Z.
Savannah Lee Smith As Monet De Haan
Julien's other friend and team member is her social media manager Monet de Haan, played by Savannah Lee Smith. Similar to Luna, Monet is not thrilled about Zoya's arrival and has no problem getting Julien's half-sister in trouble. Like Mock, Gossip Girl is also Smith's first role ever, which is a tremendous way to start an acting career.
