Warning: SPOILERS For Ghosts Season 4

The fourth season of Ghosts season 3 finale.

Ghosts season 4, episode 2 debuted Sam's dad, Frank (Dean Norris), and Isaac begins to reckon with his past mistakes, primarily what has transgressed with Patience and Nigel. The Puritan ghost has softened to a degree, but still, her antics, like subjecting Sam (Rose McIver) to a witch trial in Ghosts season 4, episode 3, have captivated much of the season so far. Her overbearing presence in the house has overshadowed other characters, including a new spirit from Ghosts season 3 whose story has untapped potential and needs to continue sooner rather than later.

Ghosts Season 4 Has Yet To Feature Carol

Carol Dies And Becomes A Spirit In Ghosts Season 3

Carol looking shocked in Ghosts

Ghosts season 4 has completely ignored Carol Martino (Caroline Aaron), Pete's widow. Carol debuted in Ghosts season 1 when Pete's family comes to Woodstone B&B at Sam's request. The episode expands on Pete's backstory, with Carol revealing that she had an affair with Pete's best friend, Jerry, before her husband's death. Pete is devastated to hear the truth since he has stayed loyal to his wife in the afterlife. Despite his forgiveness, Carol's first appearance was just the beginning. She returned when her daughter married at Woodstone in Ghosts season 2 and was a recurring character in season 3.

Pete's story is inspired by Pat Butcher (Jim Howick) from Ghosts UK.

In Ghosts season 3, Sam and Jay accidentally invite Carol to their Halloween party. Carol dies in the kitchen after choking on a donut hole and becomes a permanent resident of Woodstone B&B. Carol establishes a close rapport with other ghosts, which includes sleeping with Thor (Devan Chandler Long) and Nancy (Betsy Sodaro) and getting betrothed to Baxter in Ghosts season 3's finale. Still, season 4 has totally ignored Carol. Despite moving in with Baxter, Carol is nowhere to be found in the shed when it is shown at the end of Ghosts season 4, episode 2.

How Carol's Return Can Make Ghosts Season 4 Better

Carol Is An Untapped Well Of Story Potential

Carol must return, and her history with Pete could make Ghosts season 4's story even better. Pete's widow was going to marry the British ghost Baxter in the season 3 finale, taking over Isaac and Nigel's wedding venue, and we still don't know how that panned out. After she dies, Carol gets around. She could stay with Baxter or break that commitment since the partnership came on quickly. While Pete appears to be over his wife's unfaithfulness in Ghosts season 3, having her around would undoubtedly affect Pete, and Ghosts season 4 needs to tap into that.

It feels natural that Pete would grapple with possibly leaving Woodstone since his ex-wife is bound to the property.

Pete has been living with his new ghost power, leaving the property since Ghosts season 3, which allows him to travel with his daughter's family on vacation despite being invisible to them. It feels natural that Pete would grapple with possibly leaving Woodstone for more prolonged periods since his ex-wife is bound to the property. Pete has known Carol longer than the other ghosts, so his desire to distance himself could overpower his will to stay with the others. Perhaps reconciling with his ex-wife could allow Carol to move on, giving her a proper sendoff rather than sidelining her.
