Developer Sucker Punch has unleashed the launch trailer for Iki Island. The Director's Cut will come to PS4 and PS5 platforms in just a couple of days, bringing with it the Iki Island expansion, director's commentary, digital mini art book, Hero of Tsushima Skin set, and the Legends cooperative mode.
An archipelago situated in the Tsushima Strait, Iki Island is a span of land that Ghost of Tsushima protagonist Jin Sakai previously explored in his youth. His journey to the island won't be for fun and games, though; instead, Jin will venture to Iki after hearing rumors about a Mongol presence on the archipelago. While trying to determine the veracity of said claims, the Tsushima native will encounter new allies, outlaws, and everything in between. Players can also expect Jin to pick up a few extra tricks during his time on Iki, which Sucker Punch has teased in an all-new trailer.
The launch trailer for Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut offers another sneak peek at the forthcoming Iki Island expansion. Being a Director's Cut, it also features quick looks at the main story campaign and the Legends co-op mode, the latter of which went live late last year in a free update. See all of the above and more in the trailer linked below:
As noted above, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut is nearly upon us. The package boasts a $60 price tag on PlayStation 4, though it'll cost PS5 owners $70 total. Meanwhile, the Iki island DLC by itself costs $20 for pre-existing owners of the base game. But to take advantage of the new bells and whistles on PS5, such as full DualSense , fans on Sony's latest hardware will need to pay an extra $10.
Sucker Punch originally released Ghost of Tsushima on PlayStation 4 in July 2020. Praised for its exploration and intense combat mechanics, the open-world title served as PS4's swan song, giving the console a finely tuned last gasp before the advent of next-gen hardware. What Sucker Punch plans to do with the new IP after Iki Island remains to be seen, yet fans have high hopes that a full-blown sequel is in the works.
Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut hits PS4 and PS5 on Friday, August 20.
