The Pyro Traveler’s gameplay kit in new characters in Genshin Impact 5.3, alongside the Pyro Archon Mavuika, Citlali, and a Liyue unit called Lanyan.

HoYoverse has not officially announced the Pyro Traveler as a new playable unit, but it is expected they will unlock their powers soon. The previous leaks indicated that the protagonist would gain off-field Pyro abilities, making them a useful sub-DPS unit for a variety of team comps. At the moment, Xiangling is the best option for this role, even if there are other options, such as the 5-star Dehya. Now, new Pyro Traveler leaks in Genshin Impact 5.3 detail their entire gameplay kit and abilities, showing why they have the potential to sur Xiangling after four years on the throne.

Pyro Traveler’s Kit In Genshin Impact 5.3 Has Leaked

The Main Character Has Off-Field Abilities

The Pyro Traveler’s gameplay kit has allegedly leaked, giving players some insight into how they will operate in team comps and how they should be rotated during combat. The leaked information was shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” on Reddit, and it describes their active abilities, as well as their ive Talents. The leak shows the Pyro Traveler has two versions of their Elemental Skill. The tap version sees them enter the Nightsoul’s Blessing state and summon a Blazing Threshold, which follows the active character and deals Nightsoul-aligned Pyro DMG to nearby enemies in Genshin Impact at fixed intervals.

Genshin Impact 5.3 Leaks: Citlali's Leaked Kit May Mean She's Not As Bad A Shielder As Everyone Originally Thought

New leaks about Citlali’s gameplay kit in Genshin Impact 5.3 have leaked, indicating she could actually be a usable Cryo shielder in the game.

The hold version of the Skill also puts them in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, but it summons a Scorching Threshold. This effect also follows the active character, though it launches coordinated attacks dealing Nightsoul-aligned Pyro DMG, an effect that can occur once every second. With their leaked Elemental Burst, the Pyro Traveler deals Nightsoul-aligned AoE Pyro DMG to opponents and restores Nightsoul points for four seconds. These, of course, are only their active Talents. The ive Pyro Traveler’s ive abilities in Genshin Impact play an important role in how they are used in team comps.

The Pyro Traveler’s Elemental Skill DMG scales off of the character’s ATK stat, according to the leak.

Pyro Traveler’s Leaked ive Talents Confirm They Are A Sub-DPS In Genshin Impact

The Character’s Specialty Seems To Be Dealing Off-Field Damage, Even If They Could Operate As A Main DPS At C6

Genshin Impact's Aether and Lumine are lying on the grass.

The leak shows that the Pyro Traveler’s first ive Talent is allegedly called True Flame of Incineration. It says that when they have over 20 Nightsoul points, the attack AoE of the Blazing and Scorching Thresholds from their Elemental Skill is increased, which could mean even more enemies get caught in the Nightsoul-aligned AoE Pyro DMG. Their second leaked ive Talent is seemingly called Embers Unspent. With it, after the active character inside a Blazing or Scorching Threshold triggers a Burning, Vaporize, Melt, Overloaded, Burgeon, Pyro Swirl, or Pyro Crystallize Elemental Reaction in Genshin Impact, the Traveler regains Energy.

New leaks about Genshin Impact 5.3 include details about the events and what looks like the Lantern Rite, which should make for a huge patch.

Furthermore, the second leaked ive Talent sees that when a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst, the Traveler also regains Energy. This is one of the very few effects in the Pyro Traveler’s gameplay kit that shows it benefits from having other Natlan characters in the team. Subsequently, it feels like the Pyro Traveler will not necessarily rely on Natlan-based team comps. Instead, they’ll be able to operate in team comps with various other characters, even if they forfeit a minor Energy Regeneration perk from their Talent since characters from other nations cannot trigger Nightsoul Bursts.

In addition to their ive Talents, the leak also highlights the Pyro Traveler’s Constellations in Genshin Impact 5.3, which should be accessible to players since the materials required to increase the levels are allegedly obtained by maxing out tribe reputations in Natlan. The first leaked Constellation allegedly increases the active character’s DMG by 6% when a Blazing or Scorching Threshold is active. Additionally, if the active character is in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, they deal an extra 6% DMG.

There are leaks about a new character in Genshin Impact 5.4 and their Nation could mean a return to one of the game’s most underrated regions.

The second Constellation sees that, within 12 seconds of using their Skill, after a party member triggers a Burning, Vaporize, Melt, Overloaded, Burgeon, a Pyro Swirl, or Pyro Crystallize Reaction on an enemy, the Traveler regains 14 Nightsoul points. Each Skill usage can restore up to 28 Nightsoul points. The third Constellation increases the Skill’s level by three and its maximum upgrade level is taken to 15. The fourth leaked Constellation allows the Traveler to gain a 20% Pyro DMG Bonus for nine seconds after using their Elemental Burst in Genshin Impact.

The fifth leaked Constellation buffs the Burst by three levels and increases the maximum level to 15. Lastly, the sixth Constellation in the Pyro Traveler’s leaked kit says that, while they are in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, their Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks will be converted to Nightsoul-aligned Pyro DMG that cannot be overridden, and their CRIT DMG is boosted by 40%. This last leaked Constellation essentially transforms the Pyro Traveler into a main DPS if players desire to use them as such in Genshin Impact.

Pyro Traveler Could Substitute Xiangling As A Sub-DPS In Genshin Impact

The Main Character’s Leaked Abilities Show They Are A Viable Off-Field Damage-Dealer

Xiangling poses in front of the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact.

While they can operate as a main Pyro DPS at C6, according to the leaks, the most exciting aspect about the leaked gameplay kit for the main character is the fact that they will seemingly operate as a very reliable Pyro sub-DPS. With continuous Pyro DMG provided by their Elemental Skill (thus not reliant on Energy, but only on cooldowns), the Pyro Traveler can activate either form of their Skill and leave the field – meanwhile, the team’s main DPS can wreak havoc while the Traveler deals Pyro DMG to enemies in Genshin Impact from off the field.

One Of Genshin Impact's Most Beloved Characters May Get A Fine Treatment In A Future Update

The Pyro character Hu Tao may make an exceptional comeback in a future Genshin Impact update with a new Story Quest and even a new skin to equip.

As was previously mentioned, the main character occupying the role of Pyro sub-DPS across most team comps in the game is Xiangling. The 4-star character from Liyue has been doing this since the game’s release four years ago and, despite the release of Dehya, who can operate as a Pyro sub-DPS, Xiangling is simply better at the job than any other character out there. However, because of her early game kit, she’s become somewhat outdated, and players have long been waiting for a new off-field Pyro sub-DPS. Based on the leaks, this could be the Pyro Traveler in Genshin Impact.

The leaks mention that the Pyro Traveler will be a strong unit with a power level comparable to Honkai: Star Rail’s Harmony Trailblazer. Like the Traveler, the Trailblazer in HoYoverse’s turn-based RPG also gains new kits every year and the Harmony Path unlocked in 2024 drastically changed the meta, making them indispensable in several team comps. If the Pyro Traveler has an effect like this, the main character from Genshin Impact could become more present than ever in team comps, aside from just being a substitute for Xiangling.

Version 5.2 will introduce a new promotional Xbox glider for Genshin Impact, celebrating the game’s release on Microsoft’s line of consoles.

The Pyro Traveler’s leaked kit seems to incentivize and reward players who trigger Pyro-related Elemental Reactions and this could come in handy with many different types of team comps. If combined with Kinich or Mualani, for example, the Pyro Traveler could become the team comp’s second most important unit. Even if it remains to be seen how the Pyro Traveler will behave, this is particularly exciting because the main character does not have any outstanding kit. The Dendro Traveler is the best among them all, but still pales in comparison to other Dendro characters in Genshin Impact, for example.

As reliable as the rumors may seem, the Pyro Traveler’s leaked kit should still be taken with a grain of salt. The leak could be incorrect. Even if it is accurate, the abilities are still highly subject to change while HoYoverse prepares the contents for Version 5.3 – and this is especially true when it comes to specific stats and finer details in their kit. Nevertheless, the prospect of the Pyro Traveler being a sub-DPS is thrilling, especially more so because players may finally be able to have a good alternative to Xiangling in Genshin Impact.
