A new and huge change to character banners in new characters in Genshin Impact 5.3, which should alter the team comp possibilities.
Mavuika, Citlali, and Lan Yan have already been confirmed by the developer, though it is rumored that the Pyro Traveler will finally become available for players. In addition to them, players should also gain access to a new weekly boss encounter as part of the conclusion of the Natlan arc, and there are rumors of a new world boss, that may be the first of its type in the category. A major annual event in Genshin Impact 5.3 should also provide hours of extra gameplay, but, in addition to content, there have also been leaks about updates and system optimizations.
5-Star Character Banners May Change In Genshin Impact 5.3
New Characters May Be Available For Six Weeks
One of these leaked updates for Version 5.3 may affect the way character banners are presented throughout patches. According to the leak, HoYoverse is changing the structure of character banners across several of its main games and new 5-star character releases will be made available in banners as soon as the patch arrives, lasting until the end of the update. Alternatively, rerun character banners will be kept exclusively for Phase 2, starting only when Genshin Impact’s update reaches half of its duration. The leak was shared in a post flagged as “Suspicious” on Reddit.

Genshin Impact 5.3 Leaks: Pyro Traveler's Kit Shows Xiangling's Reign As A Pyro Sub-DPS May Have Come To An End After Four Years
The Pyro Traveler could become the best new Pyro sub-DPS in Genshin Impact, based on the leaks regarding their gameplay kit in Version 5.3.
In theory, this would mean that new character releases would be available in the banners throughout the six weeks each patch usually lasts while rerunning characters would only appear for the final three weeks. Additionally, the rerun characters would not take over the banners featuring the new units and, instead, likely run alongside them. If this is true, it would sustain the previous leaks about the Genshin Impact 5.3 character banners that said Mavuika and Citlali would appear together in Phase 1, while two rerun characters would compose Phase 2 banners.
Normally, HoYoverse spreads new 5-star character releases across both its Phases, which would mean that either Mavuika or Citlali would appear in Phase 1 and the other would appear in Phase 2.
Players Could Farm An Update’s Primogems For New Genshin Impact Characters
The Leak Brings Positive Change For Players
If this leak is true, it’s a positive change. Instead of being limited to a three-week window to obtain exciting new characters, players will have six full weeks to pull for them. This shouldn’t only offer them more chances to pull, but also more resources. Some limited-time events in updates only appear during the second half. As such, the Primogems they offer can’t be used for any new Phase 1 characters. If the leak is true, players may have a chance to use everything farmed in the patch to grab a new 5-star character, like Mavuika in Genshin Impact 5.3.

Genshin Impact 5.3 Leaks Hint At Update You've Been Waiting For Ages To Happen
A great system optimization update for Artifacts may occur in Genshin Impact 5.3, allowing players to have a better time when farming them.
Often, when players fail to pull who they want, they start saving up for future releases or the character’s rerun. This behavior may be impacted by the leaked change in banners. In addition to the benefits to the players themselves, HoYoverse itself gets a better chance at promoting sales for their new characters. While reruns are still rumored to fuel a lot of the company’s revenue, new character releases tend to be the moment characters make the most money. If they are available for more time, they have a chance of increasing their profits with Genshin Impact.
This leak has been shared across several of HoYoverse’s games. For now, however, it should be considered with caution. Even if the information is correct, it may be pushed into a future patch or tested in other games under the company’s belt before arriving in Genshin Impact. There is also a chance that the leaked information is completely wrong. Nevertheless, it sounds like a positive change that should make the player experience a bit less rushed and more satisfying when pulling for new character releases.
