In all of Game of Thrones, there’s no family that is quite as inspiring and frustrating as House Stark. Somehow, this noble house managed to produce people that could, at times, be brilliant and smart and cunning, and at others, utterly inept. It has to be said, though, that of all of the nobles that appear, the of House Stark really do seem to grow and change and develop the most from the beginning of the series.
The real question, though, is how they would survive if they were to be thrown into a horror film. The results are, it has to be said, very mixed.
Rickon
Poor Rickon. The poor kid never really did get a break in the show, and he really felt like an afterthought most of the time. His unfortunate death at the hands of the monstrous Ramsay Bolton was expected, but it still felt like a gut-punch to see yet another member of this family cut down (and it wasn't a great exit).
Given that Ramsay is basically a horror villain in his own right, it seems pretty clear that Rickon would be one of the first to bite the dust.
Jon
Jon Snow really is something. From the beginning of the series, he was almost too good for this world, and he seemed to stubbornly refuse to believe anything that didn’t accord with his worldview (he got worse about this as the show went on).
His nobility, in fact, is what would end up getting him killed and cost him his shot at the throne of the Seven Kingdoms. Given that he can be a bit slow on the uptake sometimes, this means that he would probably be dead meat if he were ever to be in a horror movie.
Eddard
Like his sons, Eddard was the type of person who could be very inflexible, particularly where his honor was concerned, and sometimes he did things that made no sense from a rational point of view. In fact, he let his sense of fairness and right get in the way of his own life, and it was this that would ultimately cost him his head.
He’s the type of person who, in a horror film, would simply refuse to believe the monster was real or, alternatively, would futilely sacrifice himself in the hopes of saving others. Either way, he definitely wouldn’t last very long.
Robb
Robb had a lot of his father in him, and he was a good leader, most of the time. Unfortunately, the times when he put his own heart about his duty were very dangerous, particularly when he spurned the marriage offer of Lord Walder Frey.
Though he might make it about halfway through a horror film, as a character Robb would probably be struck down going into a building that he thought wasn’t inhabited by the killer. After all, only a fool would have walked into Walder Frey’s castle without expecting an ambush.
Catelyn
One of the best things that Robb did was to have his mother Catelyn as a senior adviser. However, she proved that she was never quite able to get him to do what he should do, and she was slowly but surely sidelined.
Of course, Catelyn also met her gruesome fate at the butchery that was the Red Wedding, so it seems pretty clear that she wouldn’t be one of those who would make it all the way through a horror film, either.
Benjen
Say what one will about Benjen, there’s no question that he’s truly a formidable character. After all, it’s not every man that could survive beyond the Wall and then, having been killed, manage to become undead without being a servant of the Night King.
His sheer will to survive and do all that he could to help his surviving family suggests that he’s just the kind of guy that would survive through most of a horror film and, even if he didn’t manage to take out the bad guy, would still manage to inflict some damage.
Lyanna
Lyanna is one of those important characters that only appear very briefly, right when she is about to die in childbirth while giving birth to Jon Snow. However, before that, she showed that she was the type of young woman who wasn’t willing to accept what fate handed her.
She was determined to live life on her own . When it comes to a horror film, this probably means that she would either survive to be the final girl or that she would end up dying as punishment for her independence.
Bran
Bran is a bit of an odd case when it comes to whether and how long he would survive in a horror film. After all, he does have all of the knowledge of the past and future in his mind (and, at times, he can be quite ruthless in his approach to politics). At the same time, he’s also sort of incapacitated by his fall from the tower very early in the show.
It could therefore go either way in of his survival chances. Most likely, he would survive until very close to the end, and he might even be one of those to be alive when the credits roll.
Sansa
Of all of the Stark children, Sansa shows the most development and growth throughout the series. While she begins as a young girl full of fanciful notions of court life and her future as a wife, by the end she has become Queen in the North in her own right.
In many ways, she is literally one of the final girls of the show, both a hero and a villain. It’s a pretty safe bet, therefore, that if she were to appear in a horror film she would occupy that same role.
Arya
Finally, there’s Arya. From the beginning to the end, Arya is never content with the world as it’s given to her (though she does change in some important ways). She wants to make her own way, and she does a darn good job of it.
If anyone in the series is fated to be the final girl in a horror film, it would have to be Arya. It’s impossible to think of a horror movie killer that would have what it takes to take her down, and fans would no doubt love to see her take them out instead.
