Summary
- Futurama's title card gags continue to be a hallmark, with season 12 offering a meta commentary on the show's history.
- Despite some decline in quality, Hulu's revival of Futurama for multiple seasons shows promise with season 12's improvements.
- With the Futurama cast reassembled, the Hulu era of the show brings hope for continued humor and high-concept storylines.
Futurama cast reassembled again, the sci-fi sitcom is being given another chance to right the wrongs of its past. However, the question remains whether a second revival was a good idea.
The title card is Futurama's self-made opportunity to throw another joke into the mix before the episode has officially started. While it can sometimes be a ing reference to the events of the coming story, it's often unrelated. Alternatively, it's been known to serve as a meta commentary on the status of the show at that time. The latter is the case for Futurama season 12, episode 3, "The Temp," and it feels very much like a self-aware quip about its recent history.

8 Things That Happen In Every Episode Of Futurama
Futurama's formula allows several things to happen again and again without feeling stale, with certain repeat events getting funnier each time.
Futurama's "Product Sold By Weight, Not Quality" Joke Is A Play On The Show's Risky Multi-Season Renewal
The title card gag in "The Temp" brings to mind Futurama's latest revival from cancelation purgatory - whether it intends to or not is arguably another matter. Given how perfectly the show came to an end on Comedy Central, the news of Hulu bringing Futurama back again came as something of a shock. There's also the consideration that the Comedy Central era received a lukewarm reception, with the finale saving it right at the end. Regardless, Hulu didn't play it safe, and brought Futurama back on a multi-season deal.
The quality of the show has undeniably taken a dip since Futurama's heyday, and that decline was noticeable in the Comedy Central era as well.
The quality of the show has undeniably taken a dip since Futurama's heyday, and that decline was noticeable in the Comedy Central era as well. So, it's surprising that Hulu ordered a two-season revival, and then went on to order two more seasons after a lackluster first season back. So, with Futurama season 12 currently airing, and seasons 13 and 14 on the way, it feels very much like it's being, "Sold by weight, not quality"
Futurama Season 12's Improvements Make Hulu's Renewal Decision More Hopeful
Futurama's future with Hulu seems promising
Futurama season 11 continued the same mediocre spell that had been so present before its second cancelation. Fortunately, the show has shown marked improvement since Futurama season 11's compelling ending. So far, Futurama season 12 has been much funnier than Hulu's initial run, and it has balanced its high-concept storylines with the show's signature sense of humor much more effectively. Hopefully, Futurama will continue to get better and justify Hulu's multi-season renewals.

Futurama follows the exploits of Philip J. Fry, a pizza delivery boy from 1999 who is cryogenically frozen for 1000 years. Waking up in the year 3000, Fry befriends a cyclops named Leela and a roguish robot named Bender, and the three find employment with Planet Express, an interplanetary delivery service. Their work takes them to all corners of the universe, exploring space and the future as imagined by Matt Groening and the creators of The Simpsons.
