“Yikes, I Did It Again.”

Kevin McCallister

Much like Die Hard 2, Home Alone 2 is a 90s sequel that places the same main character in the same kind of situation as the first movie and even has a line where they point that out. While Kevin was trapped at home the first time, he still accidentally separated himself from his whole family at Christmastime. So, after he realizes that's what he's done again when he arrives in New York, he gives the same shocked reaction before slowly realizing the potential for a fun vacation away from his relatives. Though the next 3 sequels would downplay this aspect, they did so to their detriment, and they failed to achieve the same level of success as Home Alone 2.

“Funnily Enough, We Never Lose Our Luggage.”

Peter McCallister

Kevin's parents at the police station in Home Alone 2.

The fact that the family manages to lose Kevin again after the ordeal of the first movie isn't lost on Kevin's parents. Kevin's father makes this humorous remark at the police station after they finally realize that Kevin is missing. The nervous laughter of the actors playing Kevin's parents, John Heard and Catherine O'Hara, is what makes this Home Alone 2 quote so funny, but the McCallisters' generally wild travel woes are rightly a beloved part of the first 2 movies. It is also an interesting moment, as it seems Kevin's parents are not as distressed as they should be.

“Kevin! You Spent $967 On Room Service?”

Peter McCallister

Buzz reading the room service bill at the end of Home Alone 2.

Part of the fun of the original Home Alone is the childish fantasy of having a lack of supervision with no real care for long-term consequences. In the sequel, that's taken to a new level as Kevin has his dad's credit card and an understanding of how to use it. In the original movie, this aspect translates to Kevin buying groceries. Home Alone 2 sees Kevin live a lifestyle of luxury in New York, spending $967 on room service alone. When Kevin's dad finds out, his scream of rage is a call-back to the line in Home Alone when Buzz finds out about the damage that Kevin did to his room. Both of them are the final lines of their films, ending with shots of Kevin's shocked face.

“If You Aren’t Gonna Use Your Heart, Then What’s The Difference If It Gets Broken?”

Kevin McCallister

The Pigeon Lady in Home Alone 2

There are a lot of funny quotes from Home Alone 2, and it can be easy to forget that there is quite a heartfelt center to the movie in the form of the Pigeon Lady, who befriends Kevin throughout the story. The two have a heart-to-heart chat as they're first really getting to know one another and Kevin drops this pearl of wisdom on her when she talks about closing off her heart for fear of being rejected. It's one of the great quotes from the Home Alone franchise that reminds the audience that Kevin can sometimes be wise beyond his years.

"Kevin's Not Here."

Kate McCallister

It's the comedic timing and the nonchalant delivery that makes this line funny. After getting off the plane, Kevin's family slowly begins to realize he's not there after they try to him his bag and notice he is missing. Even his mother says it at first without realizing it. Kevin's dad is the only person who recognizes the severity of the situation. The audience is then given another great "KEVIN!" shriek from future Schitt's Creek star Catherine O'Hara. This quote uses comedic timing and delivery to perfect effect.

"I Believe You... But My Tommy Gun Don't!"

Johnny The Gangster

One of the highlights of the first Home Alone was "Angels with Filthy Souls," a fake gangster movie with incredibly convenient dialogue. In the sequel, Kevin watches what would appear to be a fake sequel to that movie, "Angels with Even Filthier Souls," featuring the same over-the-top gangster. Kevin plays the movie from the other room with the dialogue perfectly timed to scare the hotel staff who are trying to apprehend him. It's a hilariously corny line that is boosted by the reactions of the hotel staff, who believe it's real.

“Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal… And A Happy New Year."

Johnny The Gangster

Johnny the Gangster movie in Home Alone 2.

Many people love the lines from "Angels with Filthy Souls" and its sequel so much that they often ask if it's a real movie. A lot of the dialogue is intentionally hammy, but some of it is quite convincing for the period that it's meant to be set in. This line is an extension of the classic "Merry Christmas ya filthy animal" from the previous movie, adding a little extra Happy New Year part in keeping with the film's goal of making everything from Home Alone even bigger. It was a sequel that added more and matched up with the real movie it is part of.

"Don't Gimme That. You've Been Smooching With Everybody."

Johnny The Gangster

This line hilariously catches the hotel staff off guard. When they barge into Kevin's room, the fake gangster movie has a scene where one of the characters is accusing another of cheating on him. Even though he's not the actor saying it, Home Alone 2 standout Tim Curry is the person who makes this line work, as his character believes that he's the one being accused of the smooching. His reactions of embarrassment and indignity are priceless, and it all ends with him racing out of the room without slowing down, something that happens in Home Alone 2 more than once.

"Beat That, You Little Trout Sniffer."

Buzz McCallister

Buzz mocking Kevin in Home Alone 2.

Buzz is constantly bullying Kevin and getting away with it. After pulling his prank on Kevin at the Christmas choir concert, he delivers an apology to his family that shows his talents as an actor. Then, he whispers to Kevin this insult. Buzz is one of the best characters from the Home Alone movies, thanks in large part to the performance of Devin Ratray in the first two movies, and he's also one of the few characters to appear in multiple sequels. Ratray returned to the role in Home Sweet Home Alone and even references this line, showing how iconic it's become within the franchise.

"Get Outta Here You Nosy Little Pervert, Or I'm Gonna Slap You Silly!"

Frank McCallister

This Home Alone 2 quote isn't so funny in its initial scene, as Kevin is recording his uncle singing in the shower and his uncle understandably shouts this line at him. However, it's the second time this quote appears which makes it one of the funniest in the movie. When the hotel clerk played by Curry begins to peep around in Kevin's room, Kevin sets up one of his classic shadow play mannequins in the shower, this time fashioned from an inflatable clown, and plays this recording of his uncle to scare the clerk out of the room. It's a funny scenario and shows just how much of a cruel genius Kevin is.
