Season 2 of Season 1 and its best weapons saw numerous creative tools enter the popular battle royale and largely achieve the goal of shaking up the meta. The attachments that were the main focus of Chapter 5 have been replaced by permanent features on new guns.

Season 2 has proceeded to a heist theme, with many of the new items that can be found at Outlaw Vending Machine locations designed around the theme. Certain locations now have vaults that can be breached for bonus loot and Dill Coins; these Dill Coins can then be used at black market locations to buy Mythic-level variants of some of the best weapons from this season.

10 Mammoth Pistol

Unforgiving But Hard-Hitting

Fortnite lawless update cover image with new characters, one using Mammoth pistol

The Mammoth Pistol and Midas make a comeback. The former is a strong option but comes with a handful of drawbacks: this single-shot pistol can work like a mini sniper rifle with an amazing critical multiplier. High-rarity versions of the Mammoth Pistol can one-shot headshot anyone without an Overshield, making it a great asset in Build mode or early No Build.

However, late game No Build is where this pistol will fall off, as a player will need to be weakened before they can be one shot. Also, given all the other close-range options, using the Mammoth Pistol consistently is hard to justify. Lastly, this gun requires some of the best possible aim, which can exclude a large part of the player base who don't feel confident.

9 Sticky Grenade Launcher

Inconsistent Explosive Fun

Fortnite Sticky Grenade Launcher with promotional art behind.

The Sticky Grenade Launcher is a versatile tool fitting for the season but won’t always be the most consistent. It does an initial 10 damage on impact, with another 70 when the grenade explodes. This makes it a solid tool for chunk damage, but not necessarily for bursts. It also has the advantage of an area of effect that can help chase players out of cover.

It may work great in the early game, but in the late game, it will only be helpful in niche situations.

Surprisingly, this launcher does not get bonus damage when attacking structures, so while it can work for destruction, it won't be the fastest. Overall, this all combines to make the Sticky Grenade Launcher a fun but poorly optimized choice for combat. It may work great in the early game, but in the late game, it will only be helpful in niche situations.

8 Plasma Burst Laser

A Burst Of Potential

Player Looking At The Plasma Burst Laser Weapon From The Outlaw Vending Machine in Fortnite

This new weapon is another befitting the season, and while it is quite strong, the rest of the loot pool overshadows it. This laser, which can crit to the head, deals 14 damage per second with a small explosion after a few seconds of continuous fire. It also has the bonus use of being great for speeding up vault explosions by aiming at whichever part of the lock is being destroyed.

Given its relatively long range and explosion potentials, the Plasma Burst Laser can be beneficial at any stage of a game. However, it is best in the early game when players are at their weakest. In a season with less competition, this weapon would be a top three choice.

7 Sentinel Pump Shotgun

Strong But Stunted

Season 2 currently only has two shotguns, and since the alternative is the lackluster Twinfire, the Sentinel Pump keeps its place as the best shotgun in Fortnite. Though it doesn't have the biggest magazine size or fire rate, this shotgun more than makes up for it with its headshot multiplier. With the common variant hitting 170, all the way up to 190 with the Mythic.

For those who can consistently hit headshots, this is the best choice for defending against the two powerful melee weapons of this season.

Even without that, it still stands as some of the highest burst damage in the game and can be a powerful all-around tool. In a season where shotguns can largely be overlooked, this weapon should not be ignored if it can fit into a player's arsenal.

6 Veiled Precision SMG

Versatile And Flexible

The Veiled Precision SMG is another returning weapon from Season 1 that is only reduced due to strong competition. At any level, it can still deal good damage, and, with patient aim, can be a semi-good distance weapon. It also has the benefit of unarguably being the best weapon to hip-fire with this season, making it a boon in close combat.

Overall, the Veiled Precision SMG is just a solid choice for any point in the game. Its low recoil and red-dot scope make it easy to handle, and the abundance of light ammo scattered around the map means low ammo will rarely be an issue. The sole downside to this option is range, but even that can be slightly countered with proper aim.

5 The Kneecapper

Strong But Semi-Situational

Fortnite Kneecapper promo image

The Kneecapper baseball bat is one of the two new melee weapons in Season 2, and while it falls slightly behind its competition, it is still a strong choice. The bat has a moderately fast attack speed and 35 damage per hit, which makes it a powerful early game choice. The bat also has a charged attack that does 75 damage, but this has a large knockback effect which can be a boon or hindrance depending on when it's used.

The only thing holding it back is the slightly low attack speed, but that's a necessity to balance it.

Another boon of The Kneecapper is that it will increase sprint speed and jump height when active while decreasing stamina consumption. Overall, this melee weapon is one of the better ones to the Fortnite roster, thanks in part to its versatility. The only thing holding it back is the slightly low attack speed, but that's a necessity to balance it.

4 Holo Twister Assault Rifle

Consistency At Its Best

The only rifle returning from Season 1 keeps a high spot but isn't the go-to option anymore. With solid body shot damage and good headshot damage, this rifle is still deadly at any range. It even has the benefit of high first-shot accuracy, making it a great choice for spacing shots out rather than using its automatic fire.

Agent Meowscles may be in trouble, according to Fortnite's trailer for its latest bundle, which brings four new dapper pups to the title.

Between the Holo Twister and its competition, it can be a matter of preference. The stats may say it isn't the "best" anymore, but it only falls shortly behind its competition. Given it was one of the few weapons that continued into Season 2, remaining this strong is a testament to its solid design.

3 Falcon Eye Sniper

Any Sniper Is A Good Sniper

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 Player Talking To White haired NPC.

After a season without any snipers, Fortnite makes them return with an entirely new design. The Falcon Eye Sniper is a medium-damage rifle that has two zoom functions. However, the second zoom can make it tricky given the heavy drop on the rifle, so that aspect takes some practice.

The base Rare variant does around 187 damage to the head, all the way up to 207 on the Mythic, making this rifle is a great choice in Season 2. Any critical hit leaves an opponent one to two shots from being downed (including the sniper for around 80 body shot damage). The only thing holding this gun back is the inability to one-shot a player with an Overshield (but that's fair enough).

2 Sub-Zero's Kombat Kit

The Top Dog Of Melee

Fortnite Sub Zero Kombat Kit in front of a Fortnite background.

The Sub-Zero Kombat Kit comes to Fortnite as part of the collaboration and stands as the most powerful melee weapon. It has a combo attack with an initial 40 damage hit and then 35 until the combo resets. The faster attack speed it has gives it an edge over The Kneecapper.

This Kombat Kit has two other advantages over The Kneecapper. First, it has a dash attack that can be used for engagement purposes or to just move faster. Plus, it lets you run on water. Though it may not have a huge gap over The Kneecapper, it keeps itself firmly above it for a variety of reasons.

1 Striker Burst Rifle

Bursting Down Opponents

Emma Frost posing with Striker AR Burst Rifle

The Striker Burst Rifle returns to Fortnite and claims its spot on the throne as the best weapon this season. Its solid damage per bullet damage to the body mixed with its three-round burst makes it a great burst weapon. Coupled with its 55 headshot damage at Mythic rarity, it has the ability to easily two-tap players to the head.

Though comparable to the Holo Twister, the Striker just has more damage potential. It may be the harder rifle to aim with, but that is a small learning curve that can be overcome with practice. At the end of the day, it's hard to go wrong with either of the rifles, but the Striker will have the more consistent results of the two.

Overall, Season 2 has a plethora of weapons to use that can work just fine; even those that did not crack the top 10 can be good. However, when looking for the best options to gather as many Victory Crowns as possible, these are the best bets. It will be interesting to see how things shift later in the season when the Battle Briefcase and Drill are added, which may shift combat back to longer ranges/defensive setups. Until then, these are the 10 best weapons in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2.
