The Great Lord class is one of the best lance-wielding classes that can be used in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, and it is also one of two classes that are exclusively available to Dimitri. Several characters in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, specifically the essential characters that play a significant role in the story, all have unique classes that cannot be used by any other unit. This means that, in order to gain access to Dimitri and his Great Lord class, players will have to the Blue Lions during the game's prologue as this decision will allow the King of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus to become a permanently playable character.

The Great Lord is Dimitri's master class in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, and it gives the monarch the power to use both the Seasoned Tactics and Savior of the Meek abilities as well. Seasoned Tactics restores battalion endurance when an enemy commander is defeated, while Savior of the Meek makes it easier to knock back enemies in proportion to how much lower an enemy's Strength stat is. Additionally, like Edelgard and Claude's unique classes, the Great Lord class also gives Dimitri access to Charm, as well as Sword Buster Lv 5 which is only accessible by the this and the Death Knight classes.

As with all master classes in the game, players will need to unlock Dimitri's in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes before the King can use it. In addition to needing a Master Seal, players will need Dimitri to have mastered all other classes that come immediately before Great Lord. This will take some time, however, as all master classes in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes cannot be accessed until chapter 10, and the advanced classes that come before them cannot be unlocked until chapter seven.
