Three Houses, there are three different story routes the player can choose depending on which leader they decide to ally with.

Three Hopes completely turns the perspective from Three Houses around, putting the player in the shoes of Shez to fight Byleth, who has turned against their former friends for unknown reasons. Byleth is a mercenary turned teacher whom the player assumed the role of in Three Houses. With the help of a goddess named Sothis, Byleth had special abilities including the power to rewind time. Sothis would act as a sort of guide to Byleth, being a voice that only they could hear in their mind. As Byleth grew stronger, they would also learn more about Sothis's past and powers.

A new trailer from Nintendo revealed more details about Three Hopes and a demo that's available now. As previously mentioned, there are three different story routes that all have different endings depending on which leader character the player chooses to side with. If the player chooses Claude they get the Golden Wildfire route, Azure Gleam with Dimitri, and Scarlet Blaze with Edelgard. After fans play through the demo, they may transfer their data to the full game once it's released so they may continue their progress from where the demo stopped. The trailer also revealed more characters and plot details that might confirm some theories fans had been pondering.

Most notably, characters from the Ashen Wolves were revealed, surprising many fans who believed they wouldn't be in the game at all because they were from DLC for Three Houses. However, just like the characters from the other houses, these sport brand new looks and abilities. How exactly the Ashen Wolves fall into the story and whose side they are on is still uncertain. Secondly, it was shown that the new main character Shez gains power from a mysterious voice which is very similar to Byleth's relationship with Sothis. The marks Shez gets on his face when he powers up seem to match the ones of the mysterious white-haired person on the game's cover art. Therefore the voice most likely belongs to them, but the exact identity of this person is unknown.

Some fans have theorized that Byleth's reason for turning against their former allies is an effort to protect all of them. Fans of Three Houses know that no matter which route the player chooses, it is impossible for Dimitri, Edelgard, and Claude to all survive at the end of the story. At least one of them will die no matter what the player does. Byleth's actions may be an attempt to unite the three by giving them a common enemy, in hopes that in this timeline they will all get to live. A line from the trailer which asks if there could have been another way to solve this conflict may point toward this theory coming true. However, a more ominous line that seems to be from Sothis talking of "bringing the world to an early grave" may suggest otherwise. Curious fans can begin unraveling this mystery with the playable demo now.
