Many Fire Emblem Engage will be released for the Nintendo Switch on Jan. 20, 2023. This game brings a new concept forward called Engage Rings whereby the main character, Alear, can use the powers of previous protagonists in Fire Emblem.

Alear themselves have a unique design of red and blue hair with red, blue, white and gold clothes. They also bear a new sword similar in design to Alondite. With Fire Emblem games always come new and unique swords, and with old heroes appearing in Fire Emblem Engage, perhaps their blades will return as well.

Siegfried

Siegfried is Xander's personal sword from Fire Emblem: Fates. This weapon has a dark energy leaking out of it and is one of the five weapons forged by the Rainbow Sage.

It's unknown why only Xander can wield this sword, but it seems likely that only the eldest child of the Nohrian family can wield it. Much like how in the Xenologue of Fates that Xander's son, Siegbert can wield the sword. In addition to its tremendous power, it also grants Xander 10+ dodge.

Durandal

Eliwood and Durandal - Fire Emblem: Blazing Blade / Heroes.

Durandal is Eliwood's primary sword in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. This sword is one of the legendary weapons more effective against dragons. Initially wielded by Eliwood's ancestor Roland, the ordeal to obtain the blade is quite a trip.

While this massive, flaming sword was eventually accepted by Eliwood to use as his own, he initially rejected the blade due to accidentally cutting down Ninian and nearly killing her. This created a unique dynamic as Eliwood didn't want to use the weapon but needed to in order to save the world.

Binding Blade

The Binding Blade, also known as the Sword of Seals, is the sword used by Roy in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. While the legendary weapons are some of the most notable in Elibe, Roy's sword sures even those and stands as its own unique weapon.

While this sword is intended to slay Manaketes, it also grants the several boons and can be used once per turn to heal Roy by 30 HP. The sword's primary purpose in the game is to slay Idunn, the main antagonist of the game and a Manakete.

Amiti

Elincia and Amiti - Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn / Cipher.

Amiti is a personal sword that Elincia, one of the best female protagonists of Fire Emblem, uses in both Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. This sword works similarly to Brave Swords in that it doubles the number of attacks Elincia can use. Meaning she can have up to four attacks at once.

This sword also grants Elincia 3+ defense and resistance. Players that wish to utilize Elincia to her fullest should to take away her Mercy skill when it is equipped then she'll be quite the force to be reckoned with. Interestingly enough, Renning can use this sword in Radiant Dawn too due to being the only other relative of Elincia's by blood.

Balmung

The holy weapons in one of Fire Emblem's best games, Genealogy of the Holy War have more specifics as to who can wield them as opposed to other Fire Emblem games. Anyone who wishes to wield one of the weapons needs to possess the required Holy Blood and a large amount of it at that.

Even though there are multiple characters who are descended from Od, the original wielder of Balmung, only Shannan is capable of wielding the sword. In the hands of this swordsman, Shannan becomes one of the most powerful units in the game. Making his story of avenging Sigurd and aiding Seliph even better. This sword also grants Shannan 10+ skill and 20+ speed.

Mystletainn

The Mystletainn is one of the holy weapons of Jugdral much like Balmung and is the sword wielded by Eldigan and later by his son Ares. The details are unspecific, but the sword is also known as the Demon Sword.

The sword used to be wielded by knights who possessed the capabilities of wielding the sword and served a royal family with the same bloodline but without the ability to wield Mystletainn. It's unknown how this royal family was wiped out, but many fans believe it was the knight that wielded Mystletainn at the time and that was how the sword gained its nickname, the Demon Sword.

Gurgurant

Gurgurant is the wickedly appearing sword from one of the top Fire Emblem games, Path of Radiance wielded by the Mad King Ashnard. It is always notable by his side, especially when he murdered his father, the former King of Daein.

Despite this sword appears to be a Daein relic, it doesn't appear in Radiant Dawn, but players can wield the sword in the trial maps of Path of Radiance. The sword is tremendously powerful with the highest might of a weapon in Path of Radiance of 20. It also negates any critical used by characters except for those used with the Wrath skill.

Tyrfing

Tyrfing is the primary sword in Genealogy of the Holy War and is wielded by both Sigurd and his son Seliph, the two main protagonists that command their armies in the game. This blade is one of the strongest in the game and can make Seliph one of the player's most dangerous units.

The sword has a might of 30 and grants the wielder the additional stat boosts of 10+ skill, 10+ speed, and 20+ resistance. This makes him fair incredibly well against magic wielders, especially the final boss, Julius. While the normal way to beat the game is to have Julia use the Book of Naga against Julius, Seliph himself can be strong enough to finish him off alone.

Alondite and Ragnell

Alondite and Ragnell are the twin blades wielded by one of Ashera's heroes, Altina, the first Apostle of Begnion. These weapons were both blessed by Ashera and can only be wielded by the most expert of swordsmen.

Both weapons are equal with the only difference being their appearances. Ike is the wielder of Ragnell for most of Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, the Black Knight wields Alondite. However, players can give Alondite to any sword wielder after the Black Knight is defeated and the weapon is obtained.

Falchion

Marth with Falchion - Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon / Heroes.

Falchion is the sword wielded by numerous characters in the Fire Emblem franchise like Marth, Chrom, and Lucina. The sword was first used by Anri, the ancestor of Marth.

It is the most vital weapon in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and was forged from one of the fangs of Naga to cut down dragons and Manaketes alike. The weapon one day es to Chrom who uses it with amplified power to defeat Grima alongside his comrade, Robin. The sword has become the most iconic in the franchise and is easily the best sword from the game series.
