Summary
- Final Destination 6 will be called Final Destination: Bloodlines.
- According to producer Craig Perry, filming for the new movie is now underway with a release expected in 2025.
- Final Destination: Bloodlines is being billed as a reboot, and it may not be the last installment if it's successful at the box office.
Final Destination 6 gets a major filming update from producer Craig Perry. First released in 2000, the Final Destination movie series remains one of horror's most well known franchises. A fifth movie was released back in 2011 and the franchise was dormant for more than a decade, but it was confirmed last year that a sixth movie is indeed in the works from directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein. The film is expected to follow a group of first responders as they meet their dooms in unexpected ways, continuing franchise tradition.
Now, Perry reveals on social media (via Final Destination 6 filming has officially begun. In addition to Perry's post about the movie's filming, the report also includes confirmation that the sequel will be called Final Destination: Bloodlines. Check out Perry's comment below:
“After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can," writes Perry. "2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. To honor the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing. See you next year! PS: I know, I know — Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. But this is the title we’ve had for three years, and we’re keeping it… for now.”

Every Final Destination Movie Ranked By Kill Count
The Final Destination franchise is infamous for its gruesome and creative kills, but some of the films deliver a much higher death count than others.
Will Final Destination 6 Be The Last One?
So far, there's been no official confirmation regarding whether Final Destination 6 will be the last installment, but an update shared last October suggests that it could potentially be the start of a new, fresh take on the franchise. In an interview with surviving Final Destination characters may not be appearing in the new movie.
The introduction of a new cast of characters will likely accompany a general retooling of the franchise in order to appeal to new audiences. The franchise is almost 25 years old, and the movie could introduce the premise – that of characters cheating death and then meeting their ends in creative ways – to viewers who aren't familiar with it. The key determining factor regarding whether Final Destination 7 happens, however, is how well the new movie performs at the box office.

As seen in the chart above, all five of the Final Destination movies have been box office successes, but the fifth entry takes a noticeable dip, especially domestically. The Final Destination 6 box office will indicate whether there is still any audience demand for the franchise. With the installment now officially in production, it hopefully won't be long before more information about the project, including its cast, is revealed.
