Team Of The Year is here in FIFA 23 World Cup icons released earlier in the year. Fans have had the chance to vote for the 11 best players, but new for FIFA 23 is icons that would have featured in Team Of The Year during their careers.
So far 12 players have been released in the promotion, with two having the highest 95 rating, but there is only one name on everyone's lips, Ronaldinho. The Brazilian legend has been a long-time Icon in the FIFA series since retiring having been known for his flair and skills. Some of the best current players are also available to find in packs from the latest FIFA 23 Team Of The Week. With an LW position, the former Barcelona man will be one of the most wanted cards in the game with 97 dribbling to match his real-life abilities.
Ruud Once Again Stars As An Icon
The second player to receive a 95 rating is German striker Gerd Muller who is regarded as one of the greatest goalscorers of all time. While his overall rating is 95, his stats don't lend themselves to FIFA 23 in-game. The other standout card is Ruud Gullit, rated 94, who has become a staple in many professional FIFA player's teams in recent years.
The Dutch legend is normally found in midfield, but his TOTY Icon card is a center forward as default. With position cards, he can be moved back into midfield, which suits his fantastic all-round stats. The recent FIFA 23 Centurions promotion gave players a chance to find upgraded versions of stars such as Neymar.

Matching Gullit's 94 rating is former England captain David Beckham. Over the years the midfielder hasn't had the strongest FIFA cards, but this version has a 96 ing stat making him deadly when given time on the ball. Italian World Cup winner Alessandro Pirlo falls into a similar category as Beckham and with a 93 overall rating will be a popular choice to sit in the middle of the park. There is also expected to be a final Team Of The Year Icon released in a Squad Building Challenge in FIFA 23 soon.
At the other end of the pitch is another World Cup winner in Italian Alessandro Nesta along with Nemanja Vidic who are both rocks in defense. The pair possess high defense and physical stats whilst also having good pace, but fall short of some of the other defenders on offer in the game. Further 2000's stars Claude Makelele, Edwin Van Der Sar, Ashley Cole, Robert Pires and Javier Zanetti also feature in the promotion.
The new inclusion of Team Of The Year Icons is a brilliant one that should continue for years to come with upgraded versions on a number of fan-favorite ICON cards. FIFA players have recently discovered several Ryan Reynolds Easter Eggs in FIFA 23. While all of the Team Of The Year Icons in FIFA 23 are great card,s players will be hoping to pack Ronaldinho and Ruud Gullit above the rest.
