Fans of the series may have been starting to wonder if Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time would ever come out after it struggled with a few delays since its initial announcement. Finally, a release date has been provided for the adventure role-playing game with a "slow-life" cozy twist. A sequel to the 2014 Fantasy Life, the game takes a unique approach by allowing players to swap between 14 different "lives", which take the place of jobs or character class. Meanwhile, it features an intriguing story jumping across time while unraveling mysteries on the continent Ginomorsia.

Compared to the first game, Fantasy Life, this time it sounds like there will be a much deeper story involved to go along with the beautiful new graphics and other modern updates. The multiplayer aspect will feature up to four-player co-op and cross-play across all modern platforms, but the single-player gameplay will still offer a lot to enjoy. This unique blend of a "social slow-life" cozy game and an RPG adventure already has many fans of the original title anxious for this one to release, and it sounds as though the wait is almost over.

Platforms, Prices, And Editions

New Adventurer's Pack Pre-Order Bonus

Originally, Fantasy Life was a Nintendo exclusive title for the 3DS, which led to many speculations that this newest game in the series would follow a similar pattern of being a Nintendo-only product. Surprisingly, that is not the case, and Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time will be released simultaneously on all major gaming platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

It is available as either the Standard Edition, which consists only of the base game, or the Digital Deluxe Edition. For those who purchase the Standard Edition and later would like to upgrade, there is also a Digital Edition Upgrade DLC that can be purchased to take advantage of the Deluxe Edition bonuses, but will not grant advanced access to the game. The official website for Fantasy Life i includes greater details about the contents of each edition and links to pre-order the game.

Multiplayer Co-Op Local Or Online, With Cross-Play Available

Also, Will Have Cross-Save

While the game can certainly be enjoyed solo, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time has several features to allow players to team up together while they uncover the mysteries of the island. Online co-op mode will allow up to four players to play together with full cross-play so even if everyone is playing the game on a different platform they will be able to connect.

The newest Rune Factory game is coming out soon, and here's what we know so far with its release date, platforms, romance options, and storyline.

At the time of writing, it is unclear yet whether the online mode will allow players to team up to go through the story campaign or not, however. Level 5 states that players can invite their friends to visit their island, or players can visit other islands, "Whether you're going on an adventure or just relaxing on your island, you will be able to create all kinds of memories together." Although the trailer shows groups of players fighting monsters in dungeons, these could be separate from the actual time-traveling campaign itself, which potentially could make sense depending on how much goes into the time warp dynamic and how it could make cross-play more difficult.

In addition to the online co-op mode, the game will also couch co-op for two players on one system. Using two controllers on the same screen, and using only one copy of the game, players can team up to help with a tough fight or simply have fun playing the game together.

14 Lives To Choose From Over Three Categories

Choose From Combat Life, Gathering Life, Or Crafting Life

One of the unique features of the Fantasy Life games is the opportunity players have to take on different "Lives", which are essentially roles in the game similar to jobs or character classes. Players can choose between 14 possible lives, and can instantly switch between different lives when desired with the new Quick Life Change feature. Lives are separated into three categories: Combat Life, Gathering Life, and Crafting Life. Players will want to complete tasks to level up their ranking in each life they choose to focus on.

Each Life has its own features and challenges for players to focus on, and can allow players to personalize the game to be more focused on what sounds fun for them. This not only helps with the immersion, but also could provide even more reason to try out the multiplayer, as multiple players could take on different jobs to work together as a party. This time-warping journey has a little of everything for people to enjoy when Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time releases this spring.
