Fans of video games will certainly get their fill at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios, in both Orlando and Hollywood, as Fallout and Five Nights at Freddy’s will both have haunted houses based on the respective franchises. The annual Halloween event, which takes place simultaneously in Orlando, FL, and Hollywood, CA, has always hosted major movie and TV IPs by creating incredibly detailed and immersive haunted houses. The Fallout event should include almost everything that makes the series so intense, but it seems that a major enemy will be missing.

Fallout is an easy series to adapt to a haunted house. The very concept of a nuclear apocalypse is bad enough, but the unique monsters and radiation-addled humans will make for a uniquely horrifying experience. Unfortunately, as revealed in the initial announcement, the iconic Deathclaw isn't likely to make an appearance in the debut haunted house.

Fallout is officially coming to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios in 2025, according to a report by IGN. The long-running haunted house event has always been the home of major horror franchises like The Walking Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street, and The Exorcist, but this year is dipping more into video game territory than ever before. While previous years did include other video game properties, like The Last of Us in 2023 to coincide with season one of the HBO TV show, 2025 has more gaming than ever before in the houses announced so far.

The haunted house experience will seemingly be based more on the recent Amazon TV show than the games themselves, as the creatives behind the event described the experience as following in Lucy MacLean’s steps as she first leaves Vault 33, experiences the Wasteland, and meets characters like the Ghoul and Maximus in his iconic T-60 power armor. The house will also include a visit to the Super Duper Mart, plenty of RAD roaches, and attacks by ghouls and raiders.

Since Halloween Horror Nights runs two events on each coast of the United States, there will be two different Fallout houses with seemingly major differences. John Murdy, creative director and executive producer at Universal Studios Hollywood, revealed that Orlando’s house will feature some sort of climactic final battle, while Hollywood will get animatronic T-60 power armor that can move and scare guests.

While it is exciting that Halloween Horror Nights is featuring such a massively popular video game franchise, it is slightly disappointing that it will be based entirely on the show, especially since it’s missing out on the every Fallout game, weren’t present in the first season of Amazon’s Fallout show, which means they likely won’t make an appearance in the event.

Of all the enemies in Fallout, Deathclaws are easily the scariest in of sheer ability to rip players to shreds. While Hack MacLean, Lucy’s father, does walk past a Deathclaw skull near the end of the show on his way to New Vegas, a live specimen has yet to be seen on screen. For the full Fallout experience, Halloween Horror Nights should add a Deathclaw to some part of the house. While only game fans will truly understand the horror of coming across one unprepared, their appearance is more than fitting for a haunted house.

Seeing RAD roaches, rogue robots, and ghouls will be more than enough, not to mention a full-sized T-60 power armor, but without Deathclaws, the Fallout experience will be incomplete. Fortunately, Halloween Horror Nights tends to bring back popular experiences for multiple years, as Stranger Things has practically been a permanent fixture in both Hollywood and Orlando since 2018. If Fallout proves popular enough, a house based on the second season and the inclusion of a life-sized Deathclaw are still possible.
