Kanan Jarrus. Throughout Rebels’ four seasons, audiences saw Ezra grow into a selfless and heroic rebel who would do anything for his found family.

In the purrgil hyperspace whales to take away all of Thrawn’s Imperial ships. It was unknown where the purrgil took Ezra, with some believing he had died. However, in Ahsoka season 1, it was revealed that Ezra had been brought to another galaxy and had been living on the planet Peridea. During this time, Ezra’s power in the Force grew, as shown by his abilities fighting Shin Hati - but he may have further developed a rare Force power while in exile.

Star Wars Rebels Season 1 Shows Ezra Bridger Using Psychometry

This Can Be Seen in Rebels Season 1, Episodes 8

In Rebels season 1, Ezra reflects on his past during Empire Day, which happens to be his birthday. While at the old communications tower, he finds something that used to belong to his parents and hears their voices. This happens again later in the episode when he, Kanan Jarrus, and Sabine Wren return to his family home. Ezra gets flashes of the past while touching objects that were significant to his parents.

This instance of Ezra hearing past events is a Force power called psychometry. Anyone with the power of psychometry can re-experience the past by touching an object or entering a location of great significance. Usually, the Force wielder will hear, see, and feel what happened, even if they hadn’t been there to witness the events. While Ezra only hears his parent's voices, it’s worth noting that he was only 15 and had just begun his Jedi training, meaning he wouldn’t have known how to use the Force to gain these other senses.

Most famously, the Jedi Knight Quinlan Vos was able to touch objects and get answers about things in the past. Recently, however, the Force power of psychometry has become more and more common. Psychometry was originally so rare because if too many Jedi were able to learn all the answers to questions and past events this way, it inflates their power and giving them challenges to overcome becomes nearly impossible.

Other instances of psychometry being used in Star Wars include Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens when she touched Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber and experienced flashes of a vision. Much like Ezra, Rey had no training, meaning she had little concept of how to control her vision. Cal Kestis also used psychometry in the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game. Even Ahsoka Tano used this Force power to find out what happened to Sabine in Ahsoka. Most recently, Vernestra Rwoh used psychometry to determine what transpired between Master Sol, Osha, Mae, and Qimir on Brendok in The Acolyte’s finale.

Ezra Spent 9 Years on Peridea and Had Time To Develop His Force Powers

He Obviously Became Stronger in the Force

Ezra Bridger was stranded on Peridea for about 9 years following the Rebels series finale. During that time, he didn’t have any of the tools he would’ve been used to, most specifically his lightsaber. When audiences see Ezra again in Ahsoka, it initially isn’t clear if Ezra had kept up his Jedi training while in exile. However, in Ahsoka episode 7, Ezra told Sabine Wren that he didn’t need his lightsaber to fight because he had the Force and that was all he needed.

During this fight, Ezra pulled off one of the most impressive Force feats seen in quite some time: Ezra resisted Shin Hati’s lightsaber blade using the Force. Seeing how well-versed Ezra was after nine years away from his home calls into question what other ways he’s grown in the Force. He is stronger in the Force, but it’s possible that while living in relative solitude for so long, he was able to further develop psychometry. Kanan Jarrus was a good master but didn’t know everything, so it’s possible Kanan didn’t know that Ezra had to train to master psychometry.

Could We See Ezra Bridger Use Psychometry in Star Wars Titles?

Ezra is Likely to Appear Again

While nothing has been confirmed, it’s not too much of a stretch to infer that audiences will be seeing more of Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger in Star Wars titles. Zeb Orrelios, will appear in The Mandalorian & Grogu, which means Ezra’s inclusion isn’t impossible.

The Mandalorian & Grogu is currently filming, and Ahsoka season 2 is currently in development.

If Ezra Bridger does appear, it’s possible that audiences will get to see him use psychometry. While it would be a Force power most characters hadn’t seen him use before, he has the perfect explanation for why it’s so new. This Force power could also help Ezra catch up on what he missed in the nine years he was away from his family and friends. Touching objects or going to places that were significant to the Rebel Alliance’s victory over the Empire would be a great way for him to feel like he was a part of that war.

Even though Ezra Bridger was already the main protagonist in Rebels, there’s a lot more to see from the character. Especially after his journey back to the main Star Wars galaxy, it’s clear that Ezra Bridger could still be a major factor in any conflicts in the New Republic Era. With Grand iral Thrawn back, having a powerful Jedi like Ezra may be the difference between victory and defeat. Whether Ezra Bridger uses psychometry or not, it’s amazing to know that the boy from Rebels is now a great Jedi.
