An overview trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign has given the first look at many of the Nightfarers' alternate cosmetics, including some inspired by iconic outfits from Dark Souls and Bloodborne. The so-called Fashion Souls movement has sprung up around FromSoftware's games, and many sets of armor from the studio's RPGs have become iconic, and now make their way into the co-op roguelite.

Bandai Namco's overview trailer on YouTube for Elden Ring Nightreign covers a lot of ground, but one of the more exciting reveals for longtime fans includes outfits inspired by previous FromSoftware games. Players will be able to equip the Faraam set from Dark Souls 2 (the armor featured on the cover), Solaire's outfit from the original Dark Souls, and hunter garb inspired by the outfits in Bloodborne. According to the trailer, all cosmetics will be earned in-game by spending Murk, a currency earned from playing.

Alternate Elden Ring Nightreign Costumes Revealed In Overview Trailer

Huge News For Sunbros

Three Elden Ring Nightreign characters wearing outfits inspired by Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

Each outfit inspired by FromSoftware classics appears to belong to a particular Ironeye is the Nightfarer clothed in hunter garb, which doesn't seem to be an exact match for any of Bloodborne's outfits, but is very close to the Hunter and Yarnham Hunter sets, or even a darker variant of Henryk's clothes.

Solaire's armor set also reappears in Dark Souls 3.

Nightreign's costumes aren't all pulled from previous FromSoftware games, though; the trailer shows two alternate outfits each for Wylder, Guardian, and Recluse, in addition to their default appearance. These aren't just recolors either, as each has alternate headgear and different armor. You'll be able to access, unlock, and equip these outfits via the Fitting Mirror in the Roundtable Hold.

Fashion Souls Is Back In Elden Ring Nightreign - Kind Of

Individual Armor Pieces Can't Be Chosen

Alternate costumes for each Nightfarer are fun additions to Elden Ring Nightreign, especially since they can be unlocked without additional purchases, but Fashion Souls aficionados may be a little disappointed. Part of the fun in Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne is mixing and matching pieces from all the cool armor sets to make a unique outfit. Many players will sacrifice better protection to ensure they're running around in a great fit. However, Nightreign's armor sets appear to be whole re-skins, with no apparent option to equip individual items.

This is likely just a consequence of Nightreign's gameplay – armor has no effect on your character's stats, so there's really no practical reason to have individual armor pieces. It still would be nice to be able to make unique outfits, but it's unsurprising since Elden Ring Nightreign has a clear focus on characterizing its eight playable Nightfarers. At least longtime fans can celebrate by equipping outfits from Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
