Dune: Part 2 is one of the most-anticipated movies of 2024. Here are the key plot lines and characters to going into the sequel film.

While the younger Herbert may currently be singing the praises of Villeneuve’s Dune adaptation, it is possible that many of his ideas could serve to inspire the slated for a streaming release on Max later this year. Intended to explain how the mysterious and powerful Bene Gesserit first came to exert their influence over the galaxy, the proposed timeline of the spinoff show coincides perfectly with the events depicted in Brian Herbert’s and Anderson's 2012 novel Sisterhood of Dune.

Before being titled Dune: The Prophecy, the show was developed under the working title Dune: The Sisterhood, further hinting at a direct connection to Sisterhood of Dune.

The influence of Brian Herbert’s works may not end with Dune: The Prophecy, but several of his books are also set between the events of his father’s original Dune novel and 1969’s Dune: Messiah. With Villeneuve looking to use Frank Herbert’s second book as the basis for a potential sequel to Dune: Part Two, he could very well draw from the wealth of additional material provided by his son to aid in fleshing out his third movie and potential conclusion to his movie trilogy.
