Screen Rant is excited to present an exclusive clip from the fifth season of the Dreamworks series Dragons: The Nine Realms. Set 1,300 years after the events of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, the series follows Tom Kullersen and his friends, who live at a research facility on studying the massive trench in the Earth in the modern era. They discover that Dragons are real while exploring the trench. Tom and his friends have been keeping the existence of dragons a secret from their parents and the research facility fearing that the dragons will be studied, manipulated, and used.
Tom discovers and befriends a Night Light, a descendant of Toothless, which leads to him and his friends becoming Dragon Riders. Tom also discovers that he is a descendant of Hiccup, making his connection to the Night Light, whom he names Thunder, even more touching. However, this secret can't be hidden forever, and season five of Dragons: The Nine Realms could put the dragons in massive danger as the Dragon Riders continue to discover new parts of The Hidden World.
More About Dragons: The Nine Realms
Screen Rant's exclusive clip from Dragons: The Nine Realms shows Tom's mother finally discovering the secret that Tom has been hiding for so long: dragons are real. Tom's mother, Olivia, is distressed by the dragon, trying to shoo it away, but Thunder simply mimics her motions and stares at Olivia curiously. Tom quickly steps in and introduces Thunder to Olivia, confirming that Thunder is a dragon and his best friend, much to her disbelief. While Olivia is amazed by this discovery, she's clearly upset with Tom.
The fifth season of Dragons: The Nine Realms will further explore the ramifications of Olivia's discovery as she grapples with Tom's desire to keep the dragons a secret while wanting to share this discovery and study it further. As Tom tries to keep the dangers of the Hidden Worlds a secret from his mother, he and the other Dragon Riders discover a new realm and with it a new species. Tom will also look further into his special connection with the dragons.
