Mordo actor Chiwetel Ejiofor thinks director Sam Raimi is a perfect fit for the The Wizard of Oz.

After helming the first film, director Scott Derrickson was set to return to take on the sequel. However, due to creative differences, he approves of Raimi as his replacement, having expressed his considerable on Twitter.

In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Ejiofor discussed his thoughts on Sam Raimi directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. When asked how he feels about Raimi directing the sequel, he offered his praise of the filmmaker:

“I love Sam Raimi, so I’m very excited that he’s making a film, the second Doctor Strange. He brings to anything he does, a wealth of imagination and ion. In this genre, he’s just one of the seminal figures. I seeing Darkman when I was a kid. It was beyond, it’s so amazing. So I think he has an incredible mind and I think he’s really able to bring that mind into his storytelling in a really unique way, and it’s very suited to the world that’s been created by Doctor Strange, and I’m very excited to see what he does with that world.”

Doctor Strange 2 Sam Raimi Direct

The sequel will mark Raimi's return to comic book films, after having already directed his immensely popular Raimi is the perfect choice to direct Doctor Strange 2, especially considering his horror background with the Evil Dead trilogy and Drag Me To Hell.

While it was disheartening to see Derrickson depart from the project, the thought of Raimi directing the highly anticipated sequel is exciting to say the least. Considering his background, not only in the horror genre, but in the superhero arena as well, Raimi sounds like he will be an ideal match for the material and the MCU overall. It's also encouraging to see Ejiofor expressing his and excitement over Raimi directing the film, intrigued by the possibilities the director could bring to the table. However, fans will have to wait and see if Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness proves that Raimi is a perfect fit for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after all.
