A well-regarded new Hulu comedy has become a streaming hit. The streaming service, which is now owned by Disney, debuted in 2007 and began producing original content in 2011. This includes movies such as the franchise installments Prey and Hellraiser (2022), in addition to popular Hulu original series such as the dystopian drama The Handmaid's Tale, the James Clavell adaptation Shōgun, and the animated sci-fi series Solar Opposites.

Hulu has also been behind some of the most well-regarded streaming comedies of recent years. This includes the FX on Hulu dramedy The Bear, which has won 21 Primetime Emmys and five Golden Globes, and the whodunit Only Murders in the Building, which has won 7 Emmys and earned 16 Golden Globe nominations. Both series have been renewed for further seasons, with The Bear season 4 set to premiere in 2025 while Only Murders season 5 is in currently production at the time of writing.

Deli Boys Has Become A Streaming Hit

It Debuted On A Major Chart

Deli Boys has now cracked into a major streaming chart. The new Hulu comedy series follows affluent Pakistani-American brothers Mir (Asif Ali) and Raj Dar (Saagar Shaikh), who inherit their father's convenience store, only to discover that he was secretly involved in the criminal underworld. The Deli Boys cast also includes Poorna Jagannathan, Alfie Fuller, and Brian George. The show has so far been well-received, earning a near-perfect, Certified Fresh 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes, aggregated from 21 different critics' reviews. It also has a solid 82% audience score.

On the Reelgood chart of the most-watched television shows across all streaming platforms for the week of March 6, Deli Boys has debuted at No. 10. It was one of just two Hulu series on the chart, behind the buzzy thriller Paradise at No. 2. Its presence helped Hulu tie with Netflix and Max as the most-represented platforms on the chart, as the former had Running Point at No. 6 and Zero Day at No. 7, while the latter had The White Lotus at No. 3 and The Pitt at No. 8. What This Means For Deli Boys

Season 2 Could Be Coming

So far, Hulu has not officially renewed the show for season 2. However, if it maintains a position on the chart or even rises higher than No. 10 over the course of the coming weeks, it could very well earn more episodes that will follow up on the dramatic Deli Boys season 1 ending. It may not even take that long, however, as the fact that it has debuted on the chart in the first place could potentially already be enough to speed the renewal process along.
