Arkane Studios has confirmed that the time loop shooter new Dishonored game is in development to follow up this conclusion.Related: Interview: Looking Back On Dishonored With Its CreatorsIn a YouTube interview with Larry Hryb, Xbox's Major Nelson, Arkane Studios developers Harvey Smith and Dinga Bakaba confirm that Deathloop and Dishonored are set in the same world. Bakaba explains that Deathloop is set in the far future, following the world-changing events of Death of the Outsider. Bakaba brings up many clues linking the two franchises, like a Dunwall Tower logo on Deathloop's Heritage Gun and idle NPC conversations. Deathloop's island of Blackreef is officially meant to be located off the coast of Tyvia, a snowy island that was often mentioned throughout the Dishonored franchise but never actually visited.

Deathloop recently came to Xbox consoles and Xbox Game , and a new Deathloop update called Goldenloop was released to coincide with this launch. The update adds various new features to the time-loop shooter, including a new enemy called the Paint-Bomber and a new laser weapon called the HALPS Prototype. Goldenloop also adds a brand-new Slab ability, Fugue, which distracts enemies and makes them move more slowly. Deathloop also received an extended ending which may set up the future of the game's protagonists and the Dishonored world.

There are various details linking Deathloop to the world of Dishonored, but Arkane Studios has now officially confirmed the connection between the two series. Deathloop serves as a direct sequel to Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, portraying a distant future on a small island off the coast of Tyvia. The Dishonored series was wrapped up nicely in Death of the Outsider, but future Deathloop sequels may be able to tell more stories within Arkane's most beloved universe.
