Warning! Spoilers ahead for Flashpoint Beyond #4

In DC's Flashpoint universe, a new Robin has been born, and in the process, he's paying tribute to a classic kid movie hero from Home Alone.

In the Flashpoint universe, a dark alternate of DC's Earth Prime, Harvey Dent was killed. His wife, Gilda, was later incarcerated in Arkham Asylum. Their son, Dexter, was brought to the house of Thomas Wayne, the Flashpoint universe's Batman, who hoped that Dexter would be able to help uncover the mystery behind his father's murder. Instead, Dexter ends up bonding with Oswald Cobblepot, who serves as Thomas's butler in this universe instead of Alfred Pennyworth.

In becoming the Flashpoint universe's Two-Face. Before he sets off though, Dexter says, "This is it. Don't get scared now," which is the line Macaulay Culkin's character in Home Alone sayright before the burglars arrive to rob his house.

This is such a great tribute for a multitude of reasons. When clever kids from stories come to mind, Kevin McAllister is at the top of the list. Kevin seemed like an unstoppable force that could accomplish anything. So to see another kid like Robin use that line in order to pump himself up for a dangerous mission is a great reference.

It's also a very cool tribute because it flips the script on the situation. Kevin McAllister was guarding his house for his family. He wanted to prevent people from breaking in. The situation with Dexter Dent is the opposite. In order to protect his family he had to break in to Arkham Asylum. He does it quite successfully too as he manages to take out two guards and use a lock pick to free his mother. The embrace the two share is also a parallel to how Kevin McAllister embraced his mother at the end of Home Alone. Although Home Alone is a happy movie and this Flashpoint universe tale is quite tragic, it's still cool to see DC's new Robin pay homage to such a classic and fan favorite film.
