Warning: SPOILERS from Daredevil: Born Again episode 9!the MCU timeline, and the events of Daredevil: Born Again season 1 have forever changed the landscape for New York's heroes and vigilantes. Now that Mayor Wilson Fisk has declared all vigilante activities illegal, a new war is about to begin.

While Daredevil is building up his army, Matt's love interest has made a surprising move by accepting Mayor Fisk's offer to become his new commissioner of mental health. With Daredevil: Born Again season 2 already on its way, ScreenRant caught up with Levieva to discuss the shocking twists and turns of the season 1 finale, including some of Heather's most prominent moments in episode 9.

Throughout the interview, Levieva opened up on why Heather decided to Mayor Fisk and what it means for her character after her journey in Daredevil: Born Again season 1. Levieva also gave a handful of season 2 teases, ramping up the anticipation for its premiere sometime in 2026.

Margarita Levieva Reacts To Matt Murdock's Karen Page Moment In Daredevil: Born Again Episode 9

"I Think It's Something That She's Willing To Overlook Until She Can't"

One of the pivotal moments in the final two episodes was not only Matt getting shot by Bullseye, but what happens at the beginning of Daredevil: Born Again episode 9 when he wakes up from his injury. As Heather is by his side, Matt instead utters a very different name, as Charlie Cox's character speaks Karen's name, which is obviously not what a current girlfriend would want to hear. When asked how Heather feels about that and if that may shake up their relationship to some degree, Levieva shared that it will definitely have some effect.

The time between the breakup with Karen and Heather, although it's significant, it's also emotionally not quite enough for Matt.

"Yeah, for sure. I think it's also one of the things that Heather is living with, but perhaps not willing to quite face. Because I think the time between the breakup with Karen and Heather, although it's significant, it's also emotionally not quite enough for Matt," Levieva stated before adding the following, "I think Heather knows that, and also is willing to sort of push that aside. But there's a sense of it."

Levieva also looked back at one of the scenes from Daredevil: Born Again episode 7, sharing, "When Heather confronts Matt about him keeping secrets and feeling off and doing things that put him at risk, and her feeling like he's acting out. He says that, 'I feel like this life is not real,' or I forget the exact term that he uses, but it's quite jarring to hear, from someone she's living with and dating seriously, that the life that they're living doesn't feel like the real life to them, it's very hurtful."

But Levieva also commented that, for the time being, Heather is going to overlook this, stating that "I think the seeds are there throughout to let Heather know that obviously whatever feelings he has for Karen are still there. I think, because Heather really wants this thing with Matt, I think it's something that she's, again, willing to overlook until she can't."

Margarita Levieva Explains Heather Glenn's Shocking MCU Decision

"I Certainly Didn't See It Coming When I First Signed Up For The Job"

With Heather's decision in the finale where she is making the move to work for Mayor Fisk, Levieva was asked what it was like for her as an actor to both react and read that scene in Daredevil: Born Again episode 9, but also whether or not this will put her character in even bigger danger in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. Given that Heather is known for having a very dark death in the comics, working for Mayor Fisk is definitely a huge risk for her, but that may not be the direction for her MCU iteration.

"I don't know how much we're gonna follow that storyline exactly. She's a very different character," Levieva commented before elaborating on that last moment, calling it "quite dramatic, to say the least. And I certainly didn't see it coming when I first signed up for the job and read the role, and I was very excited to read about that scene."

"I feel like Heather has always had a kinship with Fisk's character, even in the therapy sessions," the actor continued. "It was just intuitive before I knew where it would go. [It] is something that I felt like there was something about him being so fully who he is, that is attractive to Heather. Someone who's just like, 'I'm not hiding that I'm a dangerous man.' I think, if anything, it's the lies and the deception that really hurt her eventually. So to work for someone who's now taking matters into his own hands and has power after such a traumatic experience, just feels like the next right thing."

Marvel Studios always keeps details under wraps, but ScreenRant attempted to get something about Daredevil: Born Again season 2 out of Levieva. While she couldn't share any specific details, Levieva stressed that Heather's choices in the finale definitely launch the next season, sharing that "The only thing I can say is that it sets up that scene!"

However, Levieva is excited for fans to see what the Daredevil: Born Again creative team is setting up for season 2, adding, "I'm so excited about this one, I'm so excited for season 2." As Daredevil: Born Again season 2 filming has been going on, Levieva teased that "It's a lot, whatever the finale leaves you with...[it] is a whole, whole big, open world after that. [laughs]"

Paging The Avengers, Dr. Glenn Will See You Now

"I Think Just Sharing Your Secrets With Another Person Would Do A Lot"

This interview was initially conducted less than a day after Marvel Studios' surprise announcement stream, where they announced several cast for Avengers: Doomsday, which has finally gone into production. With Levieva's character being a therapist, the Daredevil: Born Again star was asked if there is anyone in the MCU she believes could use a session or two with Heather. Because superheroes have some of the biggest trauma in fiction, there are bound to be characters who could benefit from some of Heather's counseling.

I really love the way they deal with making up a villain and telling that story.

"I think I would do group sessions," Levieva shared while laughing before adding, "I think with 10-minute sessions to come on in, one-by-one... It'd be hard to pick out one. That's what's so great about these characters. They all are coming from such complicated backgrounds and such painful pasts. I really love the way they deal with making up a villain and telling that story. So I feel like every one of them has something that they need to unpack."

Levieva made it clear that Heather would come well-prepared for an Avengers group therapy session, sharing how "I would come up with some really good questions they can talk amongst themselves and share honestly, and that alone would go a long way, because I think just sharing your secrets with another person would do a lot."
