Without a doubt, some of the biggest challenges that players will have to face in this game though are the champions and bosses that wait at certain locations. These enemies are extremely powerful and are capable of eliminating players in just a few moments. One of the strongest of these enemies is the second champion of the Serpent Temple, Ratyapu The Abomination. This guide shows players how to bring down The Abomination.

Curse of the Dead Gods: Preparing for The Abomination

Curse of the Dead Gods All Curses

This is one of the toughest fights that the player will have to face throughout Curse of the Dead Gods, so those who don't come prepared will find themselves destroyed faster than they can react. There are a host of different weapons and gear that could prove useful, but here are the best ones to bring along to this fight. The best weapons are:

  • Main Weapon - Hunting Axes: The biggest problem in the fight against The Abomination is that this enemy has incredible reach, so players will have problems getting close to attack it. The Hunting Axes solve this problem by being able to deal damage to the boss from a distance without putting the player at much risk. This weapon will also deal 100% extra damage to foes who have been weakened.
  • Off-Hand Weapon - Storm Lash: This is another weapon that will give the player attacks with a longer range. Whips are some of the only types of melee weapons that can strike The Abomination outside of its attack range. The Storm Lash will also grant the player the ability to cause lightning damage to the boss as well.
  • Two-Handed Weapon - Primal Hammer - Players won't have much of a chance to use a two-handed weapon against The Abomination due to how fast the beast is, but this one is the player's best chance to inflict Weakened on it. Unlike other heavy weapons that inflict this status effect, the player only has to charge up the attack rather than complete a full combo. This makes it much more likely to land. Keep in mind that this weapon can also keep The Abomination stunned as well.

There are also a host of blessings that are incredibly useful for this fight, but the player should try to bring at least these two with them for sure:

  • Storm's Focus - Successful parries while this is equipped, will completely restore the player's stamina. This is incredibly useful because in order to deal damage a lot of the time to The Abomination the player will need to parry its attacks.
  • Gust of Agility - This will grant the player five points of dexterity at the beginning of their run, which means they will automatically deal increased damage. This also allows the player to acquire Haste whenever they successfully perfect dodge an attack. Haste increases the player's movement speed for a few seconds.

On top of both weapons and blessings, there are several other things that players should do if they want to make this fight easier for themselves. The player should try to spend as much gold on upgrades and stat increases as they possibly can before making it to this fight. There are also several relics that can make this fight simpler as well. Obsidian Fragments (random increase to damage against weakened enemies) and Serpent Skin Coat (perfect dodges restore an additional point of stamina) really good relics to bring into this fight.

Curse of the Dead Gods: How to Beat The Abomination

Curse of the Dead Gods Tips and Tricks for Beginners

This enemy is incredibly difficult no matter the skill level of the player. Unlike most champions, The Abomination has more than just a couple of attacks that it can use and all of them are capable of dealing significant damage to the player. As stated earlier, this boss also has really long arms which means that it can attack from very far away. Here are the attacks that the player has to keep up with:

  • Side Slash - The first attack that The Abomination will use is a horizontal slash with its left arm and then a second slash with its right.
  • Thrust Attack - This second attack will be a thrusting attack with its right arm. This attack only covers a small area unlike the slash attack, but deals a huge amount of damage to the player.
  • Projectile Attack - The Abomination's third attack is extremely difficult to tell apart from the thrust, but is actually very similar to the spear-throwing enemies that player's encounter throughout the Serpent Temple.
  • Spin Attack - This attack has the most range and capability for damage out of all the attacks at The Abomination's disposal. It will spin in a circle and is able to hit the player several times in a row if it lands. Avoid this at all costs.
  • Rage - The most dangerous part of this fight is that every time the boss takes a certain amount of damage, it will enter rage mode. When this happens it will drive its blades into the ground and cause an AOE poison attack. For ten seconds after this, The Abomination will be invulnerable to stunning, becomes much faster, and is able to chain its attacks together more fluidly.

There are really only two ways to defeat The Abomination and both of them come with their own risks. The safer way to defeat the boss is for players to keep their distance and only use their ranged attacks to deal damage. Basically, the trick is to keep dodging and running away from The Abomination and only hit it when outside of its range. When it goes into rage the player should just run away. This method takes much longer to bring the boss down though so it leaves more time for mistakes.

The other way is much riskier, but the player will be able to cause more damage to The Abomination this way. This method involves parrying the boss's attacks in order to stun it and follow up with several combos to deal damage. All of The Abomination's attacks can be parried, which then allow the player to use their two-handed weapon to weaken and stun the boss further. The player will also want to use Storm's Focus to their advantage whenever possible to regenerate their stamina and keep up the heavy hits and dodges when necessary.

The player does need to keep in mind though that there are two times when the player will probably want to avoid using parries. Both the spin attack and whenever The Abomination is in rage are situations that are far to risky for the player to try and parry. Instead, it makes more sense to dodge out of the way and follow up with a ranged attack instead.

The Abomination will keep up the same pattern throughout the fight, so the player will just need to keep dodging or parrying and then punishing it with a combo whenever possible in order to bring it down for good.
