The team behind the critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake will be showing off its new time-travel horror game next week with a new gameplay trailer. Cronos: The New Dawn is an horror game from Bloober Team, and it will follow the company's steps towards more combat and action in its titles. While many expect that Bloober Team may also be working on another Silent Hill project with Konami, Cronos: The New Dawn is an entirely original IP.

According to a post from Bloober Team on X, the team will be debuting a new gameplay trailer on April 16 at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT in collaboration with IGN. While we have seen a little gameplay of Cronos: The New Dawn, there have been very few specifics. It is an over-the-shoulder, third-person survival horror game, just like the Silent Hill 2 remake before it, and it's said to be inspired by other sci-fi horror games like Dead Space.

Everything We Know About Cronos: The New Dawn

Silent Hill 2 Meets Dead Space And Time Travel

Cronos: The New Dawn will see players take on the role of someone called the Traveler, who must survive future threats and enemies of the past. The Traveler goes back in time to 1980s Poland and rescues people who did not survive the "Change," a world-ending event that turned humans into monsters called "Orphans." The gameplay that has been shown in early reveals looks like a mix of Dead Space and the Silent Hill 2 remake. If it's anything like either of those games, players can expect to have to be strategic when fighting monsters and gathering resources.

Our Take: Bloober Team Is On A Roll

A True Underdog Story

When the Silent Hill 2 remake was announced, fans were nervous. When fans found out Bloober Team was developing it, they got even more nervous. Then, the game became a critical and commercial success and arguably kept Silent Hill from being buried forever. Bloober Team had a spotty track record at best before Silent Hill 2, but now that the studio has proved most people wrong with how well it handled the remake of such a beloved game, it seems like Bloober Team is at an all-time high.

Some fans may be disappointed that another Silent Hill remake isn't their next game, but a lot of fans have been eagerly anticipating what's next for Bloober Team, and Cronos: The New Dawn might scratch that survival horror itch.
