In College Football 25, you can redshirt players in both the Dynasty and Road to Glory modes, which can potentially improve their stats even further by the time their college careers come to an end. Traditionally, players are in college for four years unless they graduate early after three. As a general rule, players are only allowed to be on college football rosters for four years, and this is also true in College Football 25.

There is one crucial way players and colleges can get around this rule, and you can take advantage of this in College Football 25. If a player is redshirted, he is not eligible to play for the remainder of that season and is deactivated from the roster. The only rule around redshirting is that you can only do this for players who have played four games or fewer during the current season. This can be used on players in Road To Glory mode before transferring them over to Madden 25.

How To Redshirt In College Football 25

Add A Year To Players' Careers

College Football 25 menu showing option to redshirt players

The main reason you may wish to redshirt a player is if you know they aren't going to get a lot of playing time during their first year of college. Doing so gives them an additional year to improve their rating until they are more likely to be required in future seasons. Dynasty mode has more options than Franchise mode in Madden, and you can redshirt players from the team menu. From here, there is an option called redshirts, where you can cycle through the players. If you select any team member in white, you can click on them and redshirt them for that season.

Any players listed in gray cannot be selected as they have already been redshirted.

You can also get redshirted in the Road to Glory mode of College Football 25, although this isn't all within your control. If you don't play four games within your first season, your college will automatically redshirt you, allowing you to have an additional year in your career. You can still earn XP from practices, so this can be used to strengthen your created player further.

If you want to do this during a Road to Glory career, you should select a college where you will not be a starting player. Redshirting has the potential to be game-changing in College Football 25 and can strengthen stars in both Dynasty and Road to Glory.
