Devon Sawa explains The Shining.

That bloody elevator moment was more than just a gory homage to Kubrick, however, as Sawa recently related how much fun he had filming Chucky season 3, episode 7’s literal blood shower. Check out his remarks below (via Bloody Disgusting):

Collectively, it’s just amazing to put on the different outfits, to do the hair differently, to get different types of dialogue. The elevator scene, it’s like being a kid again. I was up to my eyeballs in blood, and it felt very Kubrick. Everybody there was having such a good time, and we were all doing this cool horror stuff, and it felt amazing. It really was a good day. ... It was uncomfortable, cold, and sticky, and it got in my ears and my nose. But it was well worth it. I didn’t complain once. I was like, ‘This is why I do what I do, to do scenes like this,‘ the scenes that I grew up watching on VHS cassette, and now we’re doing it in HD, and it’s all so cool.

Chucky seems to have plenty of creative juice left as season 3 heads toward what promises to be a wild finale. It’s yet to be seen if Chucky season 4 will happen, but series creator Mancini recently dropped a hint about prospects for another season. In an interview with The Direct, Mancini indicated that he’s hopeful for a renewal, while teasing that he has a great idea for season 4:

There’s very little I can say about that. I can’t tell you my idea for Season 4, but I’m really excited about it. I already pitched it to the network. So fingers crossed because it’s something I’d really like to do.

Mancini also recently hinted at the possibility of taking the Child’s Play franchise to a new frontier entirely, launching killer doll Chucky literally into space. As Mancini teased to Screen Rant:

Everyone’s asking me that question! So, MY question is, “Do you want him to go to space?” Do you personally want him to go? If there’s enough of a demand for that, eventually - I don’t know how quickly - I have an idea for that.

Chucky may be a TV character right now, but he began as a big-screen horror villain, and Mancini has also teased a return to feature films. In a talk with Screen Rant, the Chucky creator discussed his desire to make a movie that ties in with season 4, saying “That’s what we hope in our dream of conquering the universe, is that we can keep expanding the Chucky-verse in this way.” It’s yet to be seen how long Chucky can endure, but for now, the Child’s Play franchise is alive and well, with more bloody fun in the planning stages.
