Chucky season 4 was confirmed not to be happening in September 2024, leaving the horror comedy series on a cliffhanger for its many established characters. However, Mancini previously expressed hope in continuing the show to some extent, given the series is still canon to the overarching franchise. At the time, though, it was unclear if this was going to happen.

Now, Mancini has shared a hopeful post about Chucky's future, stating that continuity has always been important to the franchise. Because of this, he said, the storyline for the series that was cut short at the end of Chucky season 3 will be resolved at some point in the franchise's future. Check out what Mancini had to say below:

What Mancini's Statement Means For The Child's Play Franchise

Chucky Isn't Going To Be Gone For Long

Mancini's Child's Play timeline has always maintained consistency since the very beginning, with Chucky itself being a direct follow-up to 2017's Cult of Chucky movie. The TV series ended with the titular spirit and his wife, Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly), being driven away by Caroline (Carina London Battrick). They also drive away with puppets housing the souls of core characters Jake (Zackary Arthur), Devon (Björgvin Arnarson), and Lexi (Alyvia Alyn Lind), their fates unclear as the series comes to a close. However, the TV series is just as canon as the movies, making this where the franchise will pick up next.

So far, everything outside the 2019 Child's Play reboot has been part of the same canon, stretching as far back as the original movie in 1988. Given Mancini's consistency surrounding how the story has developed, it would make sense for the next film to at least acknowledge the events of Chucky, offering its characters definitive closure after such a major cliffhanger. With Mancini set on ensuring the series' events do get a proper continuation, it wouldn't be surprising if more information was announced soon on how the franchise will wrap its story up.

Chucky aired on both Syfy and USA Network before it was cancelled.
